I wasn't sure if Richmond supporters were being serious when they'd mention McBean in threads like this..... After Friday nights performance I hope they weren't.

Skinny talls take longer to develop. In one of his early vfl games, the great man Buddy Franklin was towelled up by - wait for it - Dean Polo. DEAN POLO!!!!

Wouldn't be surprised if some of the usual suspects wrote him off based on that one game.

Cameron and Daniher will be the next crop of elite forwards, no questions.

Hogan is too short to be a good forward in the AFL, he will get eaten alive by a quality defender. Tom Boyd is incredibly overrated in my opinion.

Writing him off from being a young gun prospect like this thread as actually about, written him into the prospective skinny tall category.
Franklin played 20 games in his first season, doubt McBean will play as many in his first three. Terrible comparison.

I don't think anyone is writing him off but it seems tigers supporters may have been wrong to repeatedly put forward McBean as a candidate for this thread.

No he didn't.

Yeah, i mean that 1cm difference between Hogan and Cameron is huge. If Melbourne were smart we'd delist Hogan now, IMO.

Did you just move here from bedrock, son? Everyone has heard about the glorious day when Dean 'Solo' Polo stood beside the human colossus Lance Buddy Franklin in a Coburg V Box Hill, and gave him a footballing lesson which Buddy credits as the turning point in his illustrious career. People raised by wolves have heard about this. Wolves!

Even if that's true, at least Franklin had the body and the courage to turn it around.

McBean is built like a baby deer and looked scared of the ball.

Cameron is 1-2 cm taller than Hogan. Actually, currently the best heights for forwards tends to be around the 192-198 range. There is little to suggest that 200cm forwards are the way the game is turning. Trav Cloke, Buddy, Roughead, Pavlich, Jack and Nick Reiwoldt all fit this height range. I'm not saying tha Daniher won't be the best of the lot but that your reasoning is off. Also, don't put Daniher in Camerons class, he has done nothing to prove he belongs there yet.

Daniher/Hogan
Boyd
Patton (could be equal top if unaffected by injuries)

My mistake, I thought Hogan was 187cm. I still think Daniher will be the best out of all of them.

187cm? you obviously haven't seen him play then

Boyd is now 202cm and has stated that he played as a ruckman alot during his junior years. I can see him becoming a Tippett/roughead type that can ruck and play as a supertall forward.
Patton was well known to be great when the ball hit the deck and was a major reason as to why he was so highly rated. Similar to Josh Kennedy I would imagine.
Cameron is in the freak group with buddy where they can play as a 3rd roaming tall.
Hogan from all reports is a skimpier player to cloke and plays well in the contested situations. Melb have a real gem there.
Daniher looks to be in the same group as Boyd but still needs to add more size to his frame. The f/s rule handed him to the dons on a platter and he will show the comp why e was so highly rated soon.
Mcbean.... Yeah will get back to you once he does more then what I saw. He is in the same group as every clubs skinny developing KPF.

Shit you'd think at 202cm he'd almost certainly spend time in the ruck.

It'll be interesting to see how the Essendon (Daniher, Carlisle, Bellchambers/Ryder) and GWS's (Patton, Cameron, Boyd) extremely tall forward lines go.

196cm is 6cm taller than the best key forward in Melbourne's history...

Hulk is not short.

Skimpier? He's gunna wear a bikini? Knickers?

These guys are really overrated.. once they play a few seasons and people realize they aren't messiahs normal programming will resume.

Simply good young tall forwards, 1-2 of them will turn into spuds and 1 will prob turn into a superstar but nothing guaranteed

And if you were a betting man, which would you guess will be that superstar based on what they've done so far?

Well when one of them actually does something in the AFL i'll give you an answer.

It's always the way kids get massively overrated until they actually have to start playing AFL regularly and then struggle, then people will jump ship to the next crop of young talls and build them up in the exact same way.

Very promising group of talls in the next 2 drafts, they can't all become once in a generation superstars ;)

Its a thread for predictions though.

Waiting to see them perform first kind of defeats the purpose of the thread altogether.
