How about pick 25 (Carlton) and Future 2nd (say pick 27) for Clark and pick 32
Values Clark at 22 pretty fair IMO
Get on the phone to the Doggies
Yes, it might go to the wire - with at least two teams chasing Pick 17 there's a sellers market and the Doggies can hold out to get the best deal - they might need to turn Pick 17 into 2000 points to avoid a 2022 Round 1 deficitDogs could certainly be the club that could do it..geelong would be happy to give up clark and some pick downgrades for 17 and freo and geelong could give the dogs enough points to get them..the issue is if the dogs trade that pick with richmond im not sure any other club in the R1 range would do a similar deal and i reckon thats what geelong want.
We're not trying to poach him.
He approached us, asking to be saved from the weekly Selwood family dinners.
And Freo are only after Clark because Geelong won't play him.
The conversation at those would be amazing
I would assume Joel would drop a fork, hit his head on the table and spend the rest of the meal with a bandage wrapped around his head... Every. Single. Dinner.

15-20?Here’s a question.
hypothetically if Clark doesn’t leave this year and cements his spot in our best 22 next year and plays every game.
What would his worth be if he asked for a trade?
night question, has Mr Clark requested a trade yet?
It's not designed to be a reasonable ask, it's designed to push negotiations into next yearUnless it was your future 1st going back, it most definitely was ridiculous. You don’t have a first this year and only some picks in the 30’s that wouldn’t come close to making a play for 8 reasonable.
If that's the only reason then sit back and enjoy him playing 22 games next year under a new line coach at the cats. And Freo are only after Clark because Geelong won't play him.
Checks notes.... no he has notHere’s a question has Mr Clark requested a trade yet?
Jordy walks in late - "sorry i see you guys already started. Bolognese?"I would assume Joel would drop a fork, hit his head on the table and spend the rest of the meal with a bandage wrapped around his head... Every. Single. Dinner.
I think that's the objective. Pick 27 or 25 is a compete stab in the dark in this draft. A 3rd next year might even be a better pick.Getting more and more likely that this deal doesn't go through, and we revisit this next year IMO. Best for all parties.
If he has a strong pre-season, plays 15-20 games and gets back to his debut year form, then we'll end up with a similar pick to where we drafted him, or even better.
If he has a so-so season and we don't play him, then we run the risk of ending up with a third rounder or worse. Also run the risk that it all goes to sh*t, and Freo doesn't want him anymore, due to their own internal growth.
I think it's worth the risk to retain him, as he's got some serious natural talent and just needs a good run. Doesn't make sense for either party to overpay/accept unders, if both parties are too far apart.
I suspect now that that's why we asked for a ludicrous pick like Pick 8, as we actually want to keep him. If we asked for Pick 15-20 straight up, or even 20-27, the Dockers might have agreed to that and we would lose him - similar to setting your price at 9999 on ebay, so that someone doesn't 'buy it now' when you're really just seeing what the market values your commodity at (and don't want to lose said item unless the offer is too good to refuse).
Expect we've shown our hand and our position on this, and now Wells has basically stated the same as well. Not to mention the fact that Clark hasn't even requested an official trade, and there's no movement from any party that has me thinking that it's a live possibility at the moment.
We'll see how it all pans out, but all the posturing and lack of noise - similar to the Kelly trade - says to me that this one is 20% likely and 80% unlikely as it stands. Would have said the reverse a week ago, but the Pick 8 request and Wells' latest commentary really has me doing a backflip on that now.
Fun times!
Duck for mains, flop*cough*flapjacks for desert.I hear Selwood serves up a decent ‘duck’ with some mayo.

Joel "carbonara it just looks a bit red"
Depends, if he is uncontracted and demands a trade to Freo/WA while Freo hold a lower pick in the PSD than WC then he’s a future 2nd at best. Here’s a question.

Dear Andyy,
Thanks for your valuable contribution.

You are most welcome sir.
I enjoy real discussion.
and yet 17 clubs had their chance to get him off us last off-season. No takers. The obvious ones are Kreuger, Clark, Constable, Narkle and de Koening (though the latter is a stretch).
I mean, Constable ffs. Ten years ago, if a player was busy getting 40+ per week in the VFL, he would find a spot in the seniors, no questions asked. Instead, everyone seems keen to focus on what he cannot do, rather than what he can.
