Freo supporters can't have it both ways.

You can't go actively chasing him with (allegedly) a significant deal....and in the same breath, brand him a useless fringe nobody that's only worth a token pick.
you think jordan clark is worth pick 8?

Win - win in this scenario, to me at least, is Freo walking away. Geelong get a chance to show Clark he is wanted next year.

Freo don’t overpay for Clark and can focus on the draft with their picks plus the Cerra picks. Some good WA talls that will either slip to their picks or they can trade up for.

Meet again next year and see what’s up then.

Only potential loser is Clark if he really wants to leave

Hogan's 2018: 20 games, roughly 50 goals and 350 touches. Pretty outstanding from CHF and IMO no suggestion of mental health problems.
You are just going off stats aren’t you, Jesse took time away from the game after his father died, the
reason given was mental health.
There was also a previous testicular cancer scare, and when Jesse came back he king hit his opponent
in a game.

Also there was a lot of talk about Jesse not buying into the club culture, this quite often
IMO is associated with drug use. It is not always about drug use, it is also a sign of someone who
doesn’t care if they are there or not.

I didn't read too much off that at the time, if I had ball cancer and then a parent die in my early 20s of (I believe) cancer, I'd take some time off too.

The suspension for whacking the guy, I'd forgotten about that.

Not on its own, but 8 with something reasonable coming back mightn't have been ridiculous.

All we heard is Pick 8 was part of our asking price, no idea what else was supposed to be part of the deal.
Unless it was your future 1st going back, it most definitely was ridiculous. You don’t have a first this year and only some picks in the 30’s that wouldn’t come close to making a play for 8 reasonable.

Oh, it's absolutely unreasonable. But it kindof reminds me of the Josh Dunkley episode last year - the club doesn't want to lose him, and is thus only willing to consider a Godfather offer.

I don’t believe that Geelong doesn’t want to lose him. They haven’t played him and recruited others to play his spot.

I just think they’re posturing to try to get more in a trade, and probably partially driven by the optics such as ..

A) they don’t have a lot of youth on the list
B) losing a high pick for nothing
C) they don’t have much in the way of early draft picks

if you got pick 9 & that was coming back, it might be just about right

Nah, theres no way wanting pick 8 in a deal for Clark is anything but ridiculous.

Top 10 picks come at a premium. Even if the "points" balanced in a deal you need to pay significant overs to get a top 10 pick.

And that's more significant overs than what is required for a contracted Jordan Clark.

You're right. Pick 8 for Clark, 30, 32, 34 plus Future 1st would nearly be fair.

I think this is the issue, Geelong have far too many middle picks and need to upgrade into the 1st round.

I agree on the last sentence the fact that we did kreuger for an upgrade pick rather than a straight out pick tells me list spots are an issue and we want to move a couple of our mid range picks into a mid-late R1 pick. Which i suspect freo is aware of and therefore it probably needs a third club involved to get the deal done.
