So either crows are giving us a future first or he’s going to resign for 2 years bringing him to free agency, where port have spent 2 years recruiting him and convince him to join the pear

Don't worry, soon the bargaining stage of grief will be over and you'll be angry that Dawson is ours for pick 33.

Right now you have shot yourselves in the foot....its either presence in this draft or presence in next years draft.
Big move by the Crows to deal out the picks.
Maybe the crows didnt have a choice… once 17 was rejected by swans.. the bulldogs probably quickly moved on and thus the new deal has been formulated and adelaide has probably had to scramble to get involved in it to still get a 1st round pick that they can keep on the table for the swans..

But you are correct.. the swans have shot themselves in the foot.. they couldve had 17… now theywill probably only get the dees 2022 1st which will probably be around the same.. just a year away..

the crows have put a couple of very reasonable offers in front of the swans now.. 17 yesterday and apparently 17 and something else that essentially valued it up to pick 15 this morning.. both rejected and countered by swans with a ridiculously over the top demand of 4 and 17 for dawson and 12..

but thats all gone now.

i suspect it will now be “heres dees 2022 1st, take it… or leave it and dawson goes to the PSD”

Pick 4 for a 193cm strong marking versitile player capable of playing either end and a top 3 kick in the league is a steal. Crows have done well there

Did Finn Callaghan find a few more cms?

If a suitable deal is not found, there’s an understanding between both parties that Dawson will come back on a 2 year deal on an increased offer from money freed up by hewett departure. Dawson will then be a free agent
I know this is hypothetical - but dear god it would be good if this was true.

What’s this understanding?

And if that really is the case why the **** are Sydney even bothering to trade? Just keep him for the two years while you’re playing finals and then take what will be a very nice compo pick.

Finally we agree on something. Yes getting him at Pick 4 in the preseason draft would be good.

This has all the hallmarks of us shutting up shop and just going the PSD route.

If we have a dud season again next year, we could get Lukocious the same way.

Building a gun list by PSD!

I'm sure we'll be amicable to Dawson -> pick 4 in the PSD.

Just ignore the fine print, and try to not spend it all in one place.

*Though honestly, you might be able to trade PSD picks. I don't think anyone has ever tried though, considering they're worthless. It probably also makes the AFL think that you're about to shiv some team in a darkened alley.

Rules provide that you cannot trade PSD picks.

You know a lot.
Why don't you just sit back & wait to see what happens. You may get him for nothing.

Not for that.

No. Its not a problem to not know or understand how the draft and PSD etc all works, the problem I have is not seeing how neutral supporters view the Crows deal as fair and reasonable and yet not even remotely consider it might be?
I think you're getting far too strung-up on this, man. Most of us (supporters of both teams) are just chatting shit. It has literally no bearing on the deal at the end of the day, and ultimately what any of us think Dawson is worth means shit all.

Realistically even if 4 was on the table, most Swans fans would prefer to keep Dawson. Meanwhile, most Crows fans would be ****ing livid if the trade was pick 4 for Dawson. When you take that into account, it's really not worth getting caught up on what either side thinks is an equitable trade. Just let it happen and beat your chest up until, and long after, the trade has been lodged.

Building a gun list by PSD!

Dawson won’t risk the chance he will get through to pick 4 in the PSD.

And to build a gun list the crowd are going to need a gun player to walk through to PSD for the next 20 years.

Gun list lol

apparently had 5 nom rising stars or should have anyway but we’re snubbed

Look, I'd be happy to trade pick 4 for Dawson if you kept that poster.

How convenient you’ve just got this intel.

Can we stop saying "front end the contract so we get him through the PSD".

When nominating for the PSD, players only nominate a length of contract, and a total payment over that contract. That is all that needs to be matched. Crows can then front end that, North could back end it, to fit in their salary cap.

With a 5 year contract, most clubs can restructure their payments to accommodate that. It just comes down to "do we want to spend $3m on a player that doesn't want to be here?"

Crows going the PSD route is risk, sure. Calculated risk though as we've seen many times before.
