No doubt has the ability to become a best & fairest & AA player.

Laird has already been proven at that level for many years.
No doubt, so has Parker. But I view it with a similar lens as Mills. It was widely known/assumed by Swans fans that as soon as we pulled the trigger on Mills into the midfield, he would become our most important midfielder. We finally saw that happen this year.

It's the same case with Dawson. We've known he's been ready to be pushed up the ground and become one of our best players since 2019. Lethal left boot, seriously strong contested marking game, elite decision making, he's always had all the right tools. Much like Mills, it was just a matter of getting to a point where our defence could bare the cost of losing him, which finally happened once Blakey and McInerney were moved back there.

It wasn't any surprise to Swans fans that once the trigger was pulled on Dawson that, much like Mills, he became a gun midfielder. So to an outsider, it might seem like it was only with the move to the midfield that Dawson reached that next level, but it's sort of been viewed as an inevitability by Swans fans for a few years now.

I don't think either sets of fans will agree on his value, because Swans fans have the added context of knowing that Dawson was capable of his performances on a wing, which across a full year would have been AA-standard, long before the move was actually made.

Geez, I know JHF is good, but I don't know how he's worth two likely top 5 picks and another first rounder, while Dawson is only apparently worth a late first rounder with pick swaps in Adelaide's favour.

was worth a try, great move if pulled off. every team would love him at there club
Nup…. Thats a ridiculously over the top amount to pay for a bloke thats never played a game at afl level…

Especially considering the crows have already given up 23, 36, 44 and 60 and 62 for the dees pick (and 33 back)

Would be basically 4, crows 2022 1st, dees 2022 1st and all the picks to get it.. all for 1 player whos proven nothing!…

So glad north said no!..

No…. just negotiating in the same “good faith” that sydney currently is…
Or, you know, maybe we're just asking for close to the value that we actually rate Dawson at.

We have literally zero history of being campaigners at the trade table. Look at what we let Aliir, Jones, Membrey, Nankervis, and Mitchell go for. We're usually very reasonable at the trade table, and I don't think the club is negotiating in 'bad faith'. I think they're trying to get a deal at close to what they perceive Dawson's worth is.

It's not like either club are firing missiles at one another either. For all we know, talks could have been entirely amicable to this point.
And so you should be...
Least you're self-aware, I guess.

Adelaide trying to do the right thing by a young lad who does not want to leave his state. Crows went above and beyond. If it doesn’t pay now it will in a few years time.

That's purely down to the position they play. Laird is not close to being rated the no.1 mid in the comp. Dawson is rated the no.1/2 for whatever position you want to put him in that isn't a midfielder or ruck in the comp basically. No one would trade no.1 rated forward Hawkins or no.1 defender Harris Andrews for Laird for example.

not a single knowledgeable person in the league would say Dawson is the best wingman in the game.
Using your logic on CD ratings, Adelaide could get a top 5 pick for Ben Keays.

Bit like Sydney being unrealistic asking for a pick in the top ten for a player taken at pick 54 …..?

This is the dumbest line of argument. Taylor Walker was taken at pick 75. What was he worth in his prime?
