The Dam Busters, Rats of Tobruk, Light Horsemen, those who fought on Kokoda Track were a special breed as were the nurses in those theatres. Reading a book on Lone Pine - tough gig there. The Turks were an honourable foe.
My father spent 4 and a half years in a POW camp in Germany - shrugged it off after the War and barely talked about it.
My English grandfather was an engineer in the army. He had to get tanks going again after they were bombed.

He never talked about the war.

How many civilians did the dambusters kill?
Estimate ranges between 900 to 1200. That's war. Horrific. But if one side refused to engage and get blood on their hands the aggressor wins and far more carnage and loss of life ensues.

That's why leadership in times of war is such a burden. When you make any decision, it will mean the loss of life. There are no alternatives. Most of those killed by the floods caused by the destruction of the dams were prisoners of war working for the Germans.

The real question is what this has to do with Jordan De Goey.

If it wasn’t for the sacrifices made during the Wars…JDG wouldn’t be free to play Football, Board a plane to Bali, go wild at a bar & have it filmed & posted for all to critique.
Jordy is a very lucky man.

My Great Grandfather (Eaglehawk) signed up for WW1 in 1915 at the age of 41.
I guess he wanted to see the world…& less of his wife.
Egypt to France (too late for Gallipoli).
Wounded at Pozieres…then wounded again towards the end.
Medevac to London…nursed back to health.
Ship to Sydney.
Strange that after not seeing his wife for 4 years…he chose to spend a week unwinding in Sydney prior to making his way back to Bendigo (Eaglehawk) & his backyard Goldmine.
Passed a few years later…my Father was only 1 or 2 years old.
So no war stories handed down.
I guess many didn’t talk about the War…then again that generation didn’t talk about anything much…except Football & Racing.

Has anyone observed Jordy at training this week?
Curious about how his body language has been since his return.

Heard Kane Cornes again say DeGoey will end up at Geelong this morning, for the tenth time this week. He keeps saying Geelong will get him, because they can get him for nothing as well.
Is he aware that JDG is a restricted free agent, and the Pies can match the offer to force a trade? Considering Kingy reckons a club will offer him around $750k a year, well we already trumped that with our $800k a year offer, lol....
Seriously all the comments coming from Cornes and Co. is just clickbait stuff, because they know he just doesn't walk out off Collingwood for free, but they won't say that because it doesn't fit the narrative.....
Wannabe Skip Bayless imo. Troll, say dumb and outlandish shit to generate attention/licks.

Best thing to do is switch off, if they don't have an audience they disappear.

I don't see DeGoey anywhere near his best by the time we are challenging again. His best is behind him.
He will be going on 30 by the time we are anywhere near challenging.

To be honest he hasn't even been that good since 2018/2019. He has his moments but is never going to be consistent. I wouldn't be upset unloading him and having some space in the salary cap again.

He is a star in a good team, but when the team isn't there to support him he doesn't have it in him to be the leader and win games off his own boot.

Would be happy to keep him, but don't want to pay overs for a player that, let's face it, isn't even really committed to professional sport.

He is the Nick Kyrgios of AFL.

You don’t see him at his best when we challenge next.

What are you watching? The boys sit 2 games from top spot and one of our losses was to the WeeGirls.

If you don’t think that anyone in the top 8 is a chance this year. The Dreamons aren’t that ungettable any longer and the rest aren’t much better.

If we can go into make finals and go in unscathed with a fullish list. We are every bit a chance.

So to your first point. We are in the mix now. And depending on recruitment and development at seasons end we could be there for some prolonged presence.

Yes we need DeGoey. And yes we should be looking to sign him up. Well before thinking of McStay and others. You can think whatever you like about him personally. But there is one thing he is. And that’s a bonafide match winner. And that’s why everyone wants him.
