The fact that the Age says that Gysberts to Geelong with their third means this is just speculation, which everything is at this point. Just 'cause it's reported don't make it true.
Let's just trump Geelong's offer to Gysberts just to piss them off. F****** handbaggers.

Lol. That would be funny.

We have something Geelong want, Geelong have something the Suns want, the Suns have something both of us want and the thing that the Suns have wants us. The Suns are just waiting to see what compo the Saints get before dealing and are posturing for appearances sake. It'll probably take another two weeks.

The AFL site says that St Kilda & Geelong are not impressed by Gold Coast's request for two first round picks.
It says North is a strong chance. The question is how do we convince GC.

Geelong are playing everyone because of the compo pick.

Why hasn't a deal been done? Caddy has obviously not committed to Geelong.

Geelong are now using the compo pick to hold GC and North in suspense whilst they attempt to leverage Hamish out of North on the cheap.

If this is the way GC want to operate during trade period when more players decide to come home we should jam them!

You can't blame them for doing what they are doing.

They want to show the whole footy world how tough they are, but they are currently getting held in suspense.

That would only make sense if we are pushing for the compo to come to us, thus removing Geelong from the equation for Caddy. I wonder if they will play?

My reading of this is that Geelong have asked Josh if he is interested and Josh has been less than enthusiastic and is holding his cards close to his chest. Caddy is sitting back committing to no one and this allows the whole scenario to play out as it is.

Geelong have then decided to insert themselves in the whole Caddy scenario, due to the weight of the compo pick, in order to dictate some other beneficial trades.

If they get Caddy, then good and well. If they don't, then they want to use the compo pick to stir up trouble and leverage deals.

North could even be colluding with them. Who really knows?

All I know is that if Caddy and Geelong were seriously going to get together, then the trade would have been done on Monday.

2 first round picks hahaaha - are they for real. There is so much politics in this whole saga

Bottom line is Caddy wants to come to North - just stop f***ing around and be realistic as to what your asking for. GCS are making themselves look even worse then they performed this year.

The thing i also think is being missed with this is that i think they know Dave Swallow is coming to North in 2014 and they are making life difficult for us now to try and send a message or precedance for future trades. However - either way they want us - so get nothing or get some something. Grow up you nobs.

Sounds like everyone is in a staring competition.

Only after Geelong get us to buckle.
With regard to McIntosh?

We come out a little under on Mac, we come out a little over on Caddy.

Win some, lose some. I'm not particularly fussed as long as the footy department have a plan to replace Hamish.

You have to look at the deal in total.

Caddy and 36 is slightly overs for 14/compo and McIntosh.

Seems as likely as anything.

Why the AFL had to drag this sh_t out for 3 weeks is beyond me.

Slightly. It's not as if we'd look back on the deal in five years and complain that we got shafted.

I think losing Mcintosh will bring out the best in Goldy as well. The trade has flow on effects.

I find it hard to fathom how losing a good player brings out the best in another player.

I understand the greater game time stuff, so no need to counter with that.

Goldy is currently a very good tap ruckman. He is also currently a very very ordinary around the ground player and certainly inferior to Hamish in that regard.

Agree.

TBH if we lost Goldy's tap work, we likely would gain in other areas with whomever replaced him. At least with what he showed this year.

I can understand GC wanting to get the max and appear as being tough to deal with.
If they gave in straight away they'd look soft. They probably think he's gonna be all australian, so they're driving a hard bargain. But he's not worth that if Ablett was that.

When did Goldy play his best football? When Mac was out & he was the sole ruckman.

He wasn't great this year in the same situation, granted.

Goldy >>> Hamish w/r/t tap work.
Hamish > Goldy w/r/t round the ground stuff.

Goldy does have a 22p, 5 goal performance to his name.

Total posturing.

Judd left West Coast when arguably the best player in the comp for what was essentially two first round picks and a second round pick. Caddy ain't nowhere near that level and GC knows it.

IMO the new game plan has made it very hard for him.... he cant exactly push forward since we already have 3 blokes over 6'5 in there, we cant use him too much in transition either.... he needs to be given a role to play as well... either drift in front of the op forward or improve your marking to be available for the outlet pass on the wing(Hmac does this well)

In regards to Caddy i raelly hope we dont give up crazy picks like the suns expect... i actually liked that team, but now going forward i will probably want them to lose every week(except against Hawks and Bombers)
