Adidas, what are they doing, ruining simple classy looking jumpers
first with the bib and Collingwood's and Adelaide weird rounded back thing
Like they have had the most simple designs (Adelaide,Collingwood & Essendon) and they have gone out of their way to make them look ridiculous as possible

Quick prototypes with Kia logos I think. If I was an Essendon fan I wouldn't be too worried.

Who knows with Adidas these days? Worst guernsey manufacturer hands down

Myself being a disliker of white clash tops when other colours are available, I made this up for the Dogs' clash:

compared to old home

However now that they've gone for the "traditional" guernsey, a similar idea:

And yes I know red somehow is considered dark by the AFL or whatever the story is, but I hate (and thus ignore) that declaration.

I understand where hitthepost is coming from but have nowhere near the same issue if white is a club colour. Although I do also like his red designs, I must admit that I like their current white one better. It looks as bold as the original imo and yes, is arguably the best in the AFL now :thumbsu:

Good point made about white being a Dogs club colour...but I consider it a minor colour and red as the secondary. I'd prefer to use a colour other than white if possible really.
And I also agree the Dogs have one of the best clash tops in the competition at the moment (along with Collingwood's). Just I prefer to use colours.

Hello, Not sure what happened to original post link but it seems broken. Anyhow, I have an idea for the Brisbane Lions jumper. Rather than having white BBFFC letters on back of jumper why not place Fitzroy logo on back and Brisbane Bears logo on shorts. Could alternate positioning when playing at home or away. I'm sure old Fitzroy supporters would love to see FFC on jumpers again permanently and could garner more Victorian support for Lions.

P.S I sent this to Melbourne office a while back but received no response

P.S.S I know yellow of monogram not the same, should be same gold as used for lion and cuffsP.S.S.S Ideally would be on old Brisbane Lions design (with Fitzroy Lion) as in Premiership Years 01-2-3

The new Lions logo has had too much money spent on it for it to simply just disappear from the jumper. The problem with the jumper is that the blue on the front comes down to meet the lion. Fans, in particular ones for the old Fitzroy would be pleased more by jumpers like the ones that I have designed and the club would be happy because their new logo is still used.

I've added the actual BB from the bears original jumper and the famous FFC from Fitzroy's jumpers to the back of the jumper, above the number/s. Having the actual logos on the jumper will further cement the bond between the Brisbane Lions and the fans of Fitzroy and the Bears.

Sorry, forgot to add that original post had both logos (Brisbane Bears, FFC monogram) above numbers but it looks too cluttered. Much better sticking to just 1 logo as I have presented in this design (preferably FFC monogram as it has so much tradition attached to it, had been on Fitzroy jumper since 1942, according to footyjumpers.com)

the thing I come back to when thinking about why clubs change their designs even just subtly every year is so they can look back on it and differentiate between games in past years quickly based on the jumper? aside from the obvious, like money and more support, the only logical reason I've thought of for the very minor changes some years is to have that 5% difference someone who knows what they are looking for can spot. for example collingwood the last few years have added and removed their emblem, had the curve at the back come and go, collar changes, slight number font changes and obviously sponsors. but to 'most' AFL fans they have the same design as always. but maybe this is just over thinking it and all the changes are done in the name of $$Moolah$$

It's difficult for manufactures because if they want to make money, then they need to change elements of the design. The problem with the AFL is that we have such a tradition with designs that any major changes would cause an uproar, note the Brisbane Lions change. Unlike the Premier League, where there is a culture of change in kits at the start of each year, we in Australia like to keep things the same. The only way to strike a balance is to have these small tweaks, such as the curve or a change in collar.

Gone are the days where everyone can just wear normal good designs... :(

Exactly. The elements of a soccer strip are far more interchangeable. You can keep a classic red shirt and white sleeve Arsenal top. But you can add a lot more minor details. Yet, even having a red Essendon collar could cause some degree of minor uproar.

In which case it falls to the clubs to protect their 'look' by establishing stricter ground rules about what they will/won't accept and, more importantly, budgeting for less cash from their apparel sponsor as a consequence.

I think change is a good thing, we're too caught up in tradition when it comes to guernseys. Look at the Premier League, a change in collar colour or a few lines make a difference. You aren't changing the core design but differentiating a guernsey from a previous years design. Personally I would like to see new guernseys every year, whether they be a new clash or an alteration to an existing one. I guess not having collars or sleeves makes it hard but it would be nice to see some regular change from the clubs.
