Well didn’t see that one coming, is it to get rid of the media pressure? Hopefully it’s the right call.

Moronic call imo. Could have easily waited

Disagree, I think we we financial enough to swallow his contract so it’s almost a token gesture so he feels more secure.

May also be the difference between trying to win, and trying not to lose.

We'll know in a few weeks anyway.

Jlo clearly went to he club and twisted their arm. “How can I and the club perform with the media honing in on my ooc status”

We caved to him.
Mate seriously, get a life. You don't have to keep spewing the same content endlessly, we get it, you're not a fan. Enough of the personal attacks.

Sipping the koolaid maybe but this is a good move for both. Anything more than toe depth analysis and you can see it's a meaningless extension. It's purely to avoid annoying media speculation at every press conference and after every game. Which is actually a good thing and no, not cowardly.

Remembering coaches only get paid out 6 months of their salary if sacked and knowing he's not getting sacked before August realistically, the club has sacrificed maybe 3-4 months of additional coach pay to ease pressure a little bit. JL gets a little bit more guarantee on getting paid. Win/win

Clearly, there is still expectation to perform or it wouldnt have been just a year

yes if they truly beleived as per their press statement
[q] We strongly believe in the program that Justin, our playing group and overall football department are embedding and driving, and the decision to extend his contract is aligned with what we believe we can achieve in the coming years and beyond[/q]

Then they would have extended for 2-3 yrs minimum.

This is a definite warning that either the team win and make finals or your contract will be end in August and they will simply pay him out.

Very bad decision, they should have either just waited or given a longer term.

It's a few months of pay and we a lot of cash, I dont think it's a bad decision at all

Is the six months league wide now? I thought it was only for AFL reliant clubs?

Coaches must be spewing. I am not sure clubs should have the get out clause tbh. But that is another discussion for another thread.

Pretty sure it's everyone going from the gist of this

Bad as in it doesnt endear confidence in the Fans.

Good for the club finances.

Bad for Beleif in where we going

Maybe Bigfooty is a microcosm but going by this place, I reckon a lot of the fans dont have much belief already and extending longer would just result in a lot of screeching, not a big increase in belief

“If you’re a player in a CBA you get full payout, you get retirement fund, you get three years of welfare support, but the coaches don’t have a CBA, they have employment agreements with clubs and in 2020 the AFL, for clubs that were getting extra money, restricted the amount of payout that a coach can get.

Thoughts?
