OK which one of you nuffs is actually David Prestipino?

Why Don Pyke?

He values skills.
From WA, so no go home factor if it works out.
Understands the WA media setup.
Has got to a GF, (would prefer someone who has won as a head coach, but they are thin on the ground)
Has gravitas, which i think is important given our list is in transition.
Isn't green, our best period was when we had an experienced AFL coach.

To me, he is our best option.

edit - (unless we get Clarkson)

Game plan falls apart when a sprinkling of injuries occur though.

You can scratch the "no go home factor" from the list of pros. It's not relevant to head coaches.

Don Pyke is walking away from a burning train wreck. Players hate him and actively wanting to leave the club. Had a one dimensional game plan that was easily worked out with no plan B. Yeh great option

Take it as you will, but Gossage vocal yesterday in that JLo is basically a done deal. Waiting for pies to be finished, so let’s go GWS this weekend!!

He reckons they’ll fully interview JLo and use him as the bench mark for the couple others.
Interview with Sumich after JLo:

B: So, are you good in dealing with the local media
Sum: Yeah great, they love me

B: what about ties to your old club? We don't want any leaks to them
Sum: yep all sorted now. Off the Christmas list.

Sum: I've got the job haven't I?
B: umm, well... the successful applicant will hear from us soon.
Sum: should I wait by the phone?
B: ummm, well... the line's breaking u...ca...he...ou. ..ye

MAGPIE’S GLOWING ENDORSEMENT FOR DOCKERS TARGET LONGMUIR
BY SEN 2 HOURS AGO

Collingwood defender Jeremy Howe has given senior-coach-in-waiting Justin Longmuir a glowing endorsement.
Longmuir is one of the frontrunners to land the senior coaching role at Fremantle and is regarded as one of the competition’s best assistant coaches.

Specialising in backline and team defence, the former Docker was a key figure in the Magpies’ rise from 13th in 2017 to a Grand Final the following year
Howe has built a good rapport with Longmuir since he arrived at the Holden Centre as part of a major coaching shake-up in 2017.

“For us, he is really personable. He’s heavily invested in the mental side of the game and making sure that you’re mentally prepared more than anything,” Howe told SEN Breakfast.
“As a team, we’ve been able to nullify teams to really low scores pretty consistently throughout the year. I think we’ve only had 100 points kicked against us once.
“He’s got a real good eye for the game. He sees it well whether it’s forward, mid or back, so he’s got his head switched on which is really good for us.
“As a bloke, I think he’s been great, I get along with him super well; relationship is really good, I don’t have anything bad to say about him. We’ve been grateful to have him for the last couple of years.”
Longmuir and Peter Sumich have been mooted as the two leading candidates for the vacant Fremantle position.
The 38-year-old booted 166 goals in 139 games for Freo between 1999 and 2007.

I really like the stuff in that article about his connection with younger players. We need that.

Also, I now have another reason to punt for GWS as their appearance in a GF would be a step closer to killing the cancer that is NRL.

J lo seems to have the goods
call me a cynic if you want but after the Damien Drum fiasco i'm still a bit wary of ringing endorsements for assistant coaches from their current club.

Does anyone recall Sydney’s glowing endorsement of Damian Drum?

The truth of that was they saw it as their best way to get him out of the club because he was such a spud. Not suggesting that at all with Longmuir, but the club certainly needs to do its due diligence.

Edit; Jeez westy1, get out of my head.
