Yeah apparently if you don't respect rudeness, you are being PC
The issue is that 'rudeness' is an excuse for truths being exposed. People don't like being told to their face that they are incorrect or wrong in a blunt manner, your supposed to do it with fairy godmother stories these days. Stuff that.
Life has gotten easier for a lot of people these days because they can blame others for their mistakes and shortcomings rather than just admitting it, taking it on the chin and getting better. We ALL experience this (its called life) and society is now telling you it's okay to run away and hide under a tea cosy.

I hate to say it, but I'm warming to having Woosha as director of coaching to deflect the noise and let Longmuir do the coaching.

That would be great IMO. The best setup is a new coach like Longmuir surrounded by experienced heads to bounce ideas off of. I'd take Woosh in at the club in any role besides head coach.

There is nothing wrong with telling things as they are is a respectful manner. You can do it constructively or you can do it in an unnecessarily hurtful manner. The former takes a bit more effort and consideration. I am a strong advocate for self-responsibility, it doesn't mean I have to bludgeon and humiliate the person to achieve it. This is a pretty soft generation in some ways (not in others), but it doesn't mean the older generations had it all right.

If you’re going to give someone the flick, you need to then replace them with someone better otherwise you’ve wasted your time and the whole thing would be a pointless exercise.

Which was essentially the major contention of those that believe the board should have planned Lyon's succession more deliberately. If it was truly predetermined Lyon would be sacked regardless of performance this year then there really isn't an excuse we wouldn't have someone better than Sumich lined up.

Would someone like Woosha be quite as necessary if we had solid experienced assistants to support our senior coach.

No but can't see Freo getting Longmuir as head coach and then someone like Voss as an assistant. Cost would be one thing but that sort of reeks of "if you stuff up, Voss is in". Kinda like what St Kilda did hiring Ratten.

Woosha would be perfect to oversee the whole structure and also provide a mentoring role to Longmuir. I reckon his days as Head Coach are well and truly over.

True, but some people are made to be number 2. It isn't a criticism, it was like having Jon Griffen as a back-up ruck.Really valuable to have experience to call on but he would never likely be number one when there were no injuries.

Who knows how Longmuir will go as a head coach or how he'll present in the selection process. I'm happy to let that play out.

But there are quite a number of options and Voss is certainly worth a look at and the reasoning doesn't even come close to stacking up to discount him flat out.

I'd also be in favour of looking at Brett Kirk, Damien Carroll (successful VFL level head coach and assistant at the Hawks for years), Adam Yze and Scott Burns also from the Hawthorn set-up.

I'd also want them to really sound out Caracella and get him to apply, otherwise Adam Kingsley and even Craig McRae (who apparently has a great development pedigree) also from the Tigers set-up would be great to have as candidates to consider.

All of these I'd have in front of baggage heavy (Freo and WA-wise) blokes like Sumich and Worsfold.

Justin Longmuir has confirmed an approach from Fremantle about the club’s vacant senior coach position.
The Collingwood assistant coach and former Dockers forward, who is the short-priced bookies’ favourite to get the gig, received a call from football manager Peter Bell this week outlining the interview process.
Bell is part of a five-person selection panel for long-time coach Ross Lyon’s replacement which includes club chairman Dale Alcock, board members Sue Murphy and Peter Mann (chair) and champion former defender Luke McPharlin.
“I have had a conversation with Peter Bell, he rang to explain the process and ask if I was a willing participant in the process and that’s pretty much all I know at the moment,” Longmuir told SportFM 91.3.

Have we considered Shannon Hurn in a captain/coach role?

We should also employ Super Suma has a coaching mentoring role.

I'd also like to see us try and help Ben Cousins get back on his feet and get him to talk to the young players about the pitfalls of being the greatest athlete of all time.

Apparently we approached Hurn for the gig but he had a prior engagement.

I would also like to see Daniel Kerr in a PR role - can really light a fire and has good relationships with Taxi Drivers
Daniel Chick, Michael Gardiner and Chad Fletcher to organise all the offsite parties

Bolton now Director of Coaching at the Hawks? What exactly does a Director of Coaching do, how is he going to mentor Clarko or other assistants?

Yeah seems strange. He might just handle some administrative stuff and take the load off. The director of coaching may mean different things to different clubs

Take a deep breath. It's an internet forum.

His character is irrelevant. Results are. 4 losing seasons without finals in a row is unacceptable.

For what it's worth I work with someone directly related to a current Docker player. This person is an old-school tragic Freo' supporter like myself. The anecdotal account I have heard tells of a club in chaos behind the scenes at some levels, good in others and Lyon not as popular amongst all players as made out by the media love. Apparently Brad Hill wanted to leave as early as his first season playing at Freo because Freo basket case behind the scenes in comparison to Hawthorn. I'm just another poster on a team forum - read into what you will.

What sticks with me is why can't Freo get things right when the scum up the road can continually be strong like the Melbourne Storm in league. I don't like it but you have to be honest and look at why Freo footy club is so troubled. (at this point if we could steal Nisbett away from West Coast for CEO I would).

For what it's worth Ross lost me after the Geelong away loss last year.

I don't care where the new coach is from - I just want someone who will create a competitive team, deliver wins through getting the playing group onside and buying in... and improved player skills would be nice.

our time is coming - holy diver alpha and omega

Not when he wins Essendon their first final for 15 years. Please Woosha, make it happen.
