KISS to play at the Grand Final

Reasonable point but equally previous musical generations have never been more accessible.

Algorithms and iTunes/Spotify mean that if you can open one little rabbit hole for a young music consumer, they can get hooked instantly. My young bloke has just turned 14 and is addicted to Zeppelin at the moment and he’s already fully across Bowie, the Beatles, Stones, Sabbath, and he likes Metallica.
That started from him hearing Starman.

80's, ya reckon?

Although let’s put the x in sex is not one of their best it still charted top 50 in Australia and was music style at the at the time…

Turn on the night is a great song and stands up again anything in the 80s. Ad in Lick it up, Heavens on fire ,Hide your Heart, Tears are Falling and the ballads Forever and Reason to Live and it’s party time on the stereo

There’s no way to tell either way… their 80s music is some of their best stuff and sadly ignored by most..
Unfortunately that was quite common for acts of the day.

Their period of success had passed, they kept on releasing new music (which was often excellent) but the industry, media and many fans overlooked it.

One example for me is The Hollies, whose last major international hit was in 1974, then in the mid to late 70s released a string of excellent albums which barely rated a ripple amongst anyone bar hardcore fans.

Thank you mate, I thought I was missing my marks a bit with his older brother (15) but his favourite band is Radiohead, and recently when he had to do a school assignment on protest artists and songs, he chose (may have been a BIT of a nudge from his dad) Killing In The Name.

I don’t want to be one of those dads that says you ‘have’ to listen to such and such but I’m fond of ‘hey mate I reckon you might like this…. What do you think?’

Gilligan has missed an opportunity in not getting Michael Bolton. He could have serenaded the MCG with "How am I supposed to live without you ?". While Eddie, Nathan and Mick reunite and hug it out in the center square. All in the name of unity for Collingwoods grand final!

Kiss could sing Forever seeing though Michael Bolton helped Paul Stanley write it as a tribute

I started teaching my lads the guitar at a young age and always had my music playing whether in the home or in the car. Stones, Hendrix, Maiden, STP, Metallica...

Very pleased to say my oldest plays in a band and their playlist is the soundtrack of my youth.

Add Kenny G to that mix and you’ve got a hit on your hands.

Norman asking Ace Frehley if he was over his bad cold when Molly Meldrum interviewed him on Countdown as he was sniffing all the time lol.

He met his match with Ace though, he was more off his head than he was and Norman was just pretending to be off his head. Ace really was

So an organisation that just signed a $4.5b broadcast deal couldn't find an artist to perform on its most important day that's got a single song in the Australian charts during the lifetime of any current player.

Remarkable.
Yeah your right, they should have booked Alex Lloyd, Kate Cebrano, Nicky Webster or Guy Sebastian. They would really rock the house.

The all time classic Australian Kiss press conference featuring Norman Gunston taking over and turning the occasion into a hilarious circus of wisecracks and banter ..

The thinking man's Paul Makin, that's a great line.
