AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Will we have anyone eligible for the vet list this year?
What's the situation with Cam Wood for anyone who knows?
Is he going to be retained and offered a new deal?
Or are we going to put our faith in Witts and Ceglar?
There has been talk from other posters that Wood has another year to run on his deal but I can't say I know. Very much hoping this is not the case. Checking the player contract status 2012 thread I can't find any info.
If he has another year to run I'd be looking at unloading him onto a St Kilda or some other team lacking ruck depth for a 6th round/other irrelevant type draft selection to clear some room for Witts/Ceglar to play the primary ruck minutes at VFL level.
I'm hoping that GWS get desperate with Gilles leaving and we can get a 4th rounder for him!
lol if Tippett leaves, Adelaide will make him a priority.

Talking about getting a 4th rounder for Wood from GWS.
Not giving up a 4th rounder for Gilles who now would be worth more after his season.
Knightmare mate who is certain to be delisted this year?? will we persist with ugle? and are there any good mature agers/ex afl players we could recruit?
cheers mate! great read also.. very detailed
With all this talk of Lynch and Wellingham I hope the Pies are going after Giles/Z Clarke to find a replacement for Jolly in years to come.
I would love Giles at the Pies personally and would swap Wellingham for him in an instant.
What are you hearing Knightmare?
Officially we have picks 18, 39 and 58.
As long as we use pick 18 i'm happy, good players suck as Shuey, Fyfe and Atley have fallen to this area in recent years, we will get a talented kid period.
Agree would much rather Giles than Clarke, he's still too raw & is no certainty to make it(certainly not a number one ruck, reminds me a bit of Ceglar), rather Griffen but that ain't gunna happen.Giles can be a no.1 ruckman but Z.Clarke I don't see as a potential Jolly replacement. He is an ok no.2 ruckman but as a no.1 ruckman is probably one of the worse options. Hitout numbers very poor and can't carry the load.
It sounds like Wellingham is going to West Coast. The feeling is he wants to move back to his home state (WA).
We likely end up with Quinten Lynch and that probably gets announced tomorrow.
Giles will most likely either stay/join Adelaide so while he would be a perfect fit I don't see it happening sadly.
I very much doubt that Macaffer is in contention to be delisted. I'd have him in the 22 when fit, thats me, but I think at the very least is on the fringe of the 22.
With Cloke and now Lynch secured, what is our greatest need or most damaging weakness?

If we are forced to deal with the Eagles, for the Boot, I don't really want Stevens or Swift but i do like Lycett.
No chance as he appears to be the heir apparent to Cox. However, Coxy has 2 (?) yrs left in him & now is the only time we might "sneak him" away from WC. Much as Syd did to the Cats with Mummy.
I would only contemplate this if we could get a Lynch/Martin/Pederson. I realise this goes against my opinion on Clarke but I'd be willing to risk it, knowing that we had insurance down the track in Lycett, Witts & Ceglar.

With a nice pick seemingly heading our way for Wellingham, which way do we go?
Do we bolster the ruck situation, go after Caddy or pursue Tippett. Another option is to pick up an additional 18yo...
Looks like this trade/free agency period is going to have our team in a completely different position to this year. Already with Lynch in the team we are in a great position going inside 50... It almost makes us exactly like West Coast - so long as we get our smalls right.
FF: Elliot, Dawes, Lynch/Jolly
HF: Krakouer, Cloke, Blair
with rotating mids
I would say a defender that has elite kicking skills, and or someone with serious speed to go through the midfield.

Stop it. You figured it out too.I have:
HF: Didak Cloke Blair
F: Lynch Dawes Krakouer
Pretty handy forward group. Not the worst going around and more than enough to win with for now.
Paine will be pushing hard for selection with Goldsack, Elliott and Sinclair both in that mix as depth and likely to play plenty of games also.
Macaffer I get the feeling will be played more back next season and same with Gault but both very capable and in my view both better suited as forwards.
