Knights on the move?

If that was the case with regard to Chris Knight's seeking a trade it seems strange Neil Craig would be saying in an article on the AFC website written by Katrina Gill on 18 September that he had met with EACH PLAYER INDIVIDUALLY DURING THE WEEK AND SAID NONE HAD EXPRESSED A DESIRE TO BE TRADED.

Well technically, Knights didn't ask AFC to trade him. Allegedly he has said that he will serve out his contract and return to Melbourne then and if AFC want to trade him now its up to them!

Knights and Reilly to Bulldogs for Coondog thanks :thumbsu:

Bulldogs get a forward capable of kicking 50 goals and an outside runner to help out the likes of their inside players like Cross, Boyd etc

Never happen though, but its nice to dream

Dogs don't need another medium/small forward. They've got Aker, Higgins, Johnson, Hill, Gia etc...

Brace yourselves folks, I've got a feeling that there may be a grain of truth to this.

I've heard a rumour (from another Adelaide BigFooty member) which (if true) would explain why Knights may be looking to depart. It's not about contract negotiations.

Note: I'm not in the business of posting rumours & I have no idea whether or not there is any truth to the rumour I heard. I will not be propagating it, either on the board or via PM.

Don't you just hate it when people do this. If he does decide to go home, it will be really disappointing that he chose to do it in a year when the draft is going to be compromised. Draft picks will almost be irrelevant in any trade deals for good players in the compromised drafts.

Aker will retire after next year

BJ will only play one more year tops

Knights plays taller than what he is, and is a superb contested mark

I don't want to lose him, but again, i don't think the Bulldogs would go for it. But i do think it would be a pretty fair trade for both clubs

Not cool Vader.

You know that if you post something like that, all it'll do is provoke speculation about personal problems, relationship problems, all kinds of stuff.

PM me though ;)

If Knights goes, he's worth a top 5 draft pick, easily.

I'm a huge Knights fan but no way is he worth top 10. In 2010 if he has another year like this one, we should at best get a good 2nd rounder but in a compromised draft thats peanuts. If true, this is really poor timing from Knights.

Knights is def worth a first rounder and then some. A young player, a midfield ball magnet who can go forward and kick 50 plus goals.

You're over-rating draft picks to a ridiculous degree.

If we could pick up a player in the draft next year capable of getting 25-30 touches in the midfield almost every week, or a player capable of playing on a HFF and kicking 60+ goals a year as well as apply excellent defensive pressure, would you use your first round draft pick on him? Then take into account that he's an extremely professional player, trains his arse of, sets a great example for the other kids, and does everything possible to be a leader.

You aren't going to get many better players in the AFL than Knights - he might not be in the best 10% of the League, but he's in the next best 5%-10% easily. Do you really think you're going to draft a player whose going to be better than Knights; and if so, can you guarantee it to make it worth it? Because as a gamble, it's not worth it. Knights is already good enough that you'd be lucky to get a player 5-10% better than him - the risk isn't worth the reward, by a long shot.

Even a top 5-10 draft pick is relatively speculative, anything after pick 20 is generally hit and miss.

Knights is worth a top 5 pick, comfortably.

A second rounder? No way, he definitely commands a first rounder. Not pick 5 but a first rounder nonetheless.

We wouldn't get a top 5 pick but I see your point and your are probably right as far as 1st rounder goes. However, in a compromised draft its all irrevelant anyway as the absolute best we could get would be around pick 14ish.

Like I said, really poor timing from Knights if he does want to go home. Hmmm I wonder who will be the 1st Victorian to play out his career at the AFC ( top 22 player) - we haven't had one yet.

we should be able to get a top 10 easily, Brisbane managed to get pick 14 for Wood and Melbourne have managed to get pick 11 from Carlton for McLean so i cant see any reason why Knights would not be worth a top 10 pick. I would rather a player then a pick in the draft tbh.

unless knights wants go home via the gold coast there are no top 10 picks on offer next year.

sylvia - i like sylvia and he would be a good little player in a good team but i reckon the afc would want more.

griffin - Knights and our a high second rounder should do the deal. Would Knights and our 1st rounder be too much?

Yes. Knights is a 50 goal a season half forward flanker with scope for further improvement. Absolute gun. Griffen has been too inconsistent thus far in his career to be worth Knighta + 1st rounder. Though I suppose in this draft...

I was thinking more of this season because i dont see much of a point in keeping Knights for another season when he is just going to leave us. Anyways i thought Gold Coast have every second pick so there still will be top 10 picks available.

Hes building a home in Adelaide . Clubs are after him of course as they always are after our VIC lads whom are any good. Pity we cant convince the SA ones to come back.

Can't believe all this talk, what nonsense.

Until the words "I WANT TO GO HOME" come from his mouth, there's no point even having this discussion. What a joke this thread has even gone on for this long.

I have never had any indication that he would want to move.

If the rumours are true, and he doesn't want to be here, then **** him off ASAP.

If anyone doesn't want to put 100% into what we're building, then they can **** off. Doesn't matter if you're Kurt Tippett, Chris Knights, Richard Douglas or Bob the broom man. We need 100% effort from everyone to be a successful group.

We're better off without players who are going to be half-arsed bludgers - because they want to **** off back over the border.

Agree with the underlying gist of what you're saying but it isn't fair to be scathing on the bloke when there is no confirmation that he has said anything. For all the trade talk you can tell Knights is a top bloke, describes himself as loyal and has repeatedly spoken about how much he loves this club (as you would, great resources, great coaching staff and a group of kids from all over the country coming together to build something special for themselves, and they're able to do that in front of capacity crowds each week). Anyone who isn't committed should be shown the door but let's not hang Knights out to dry like this.

We shouldn't be talking trades really as Drummond says, and god knows I don't want to trade the guy anyway, him and Bernie have been "my" players since they first came through (Sloaney and little Jarrhan have joined them :p). If he goes I'll be bloody devastated.
