Ah so old mate Smooth Moover has been erased from the Gum forever already

Merrigum FNC unofficial statement:

*the MFNC take no responsibility for the views and/or comments of the poster/premiership player known as "smooth moover" *mover.
The MFNC would like to "do a Stanhope" and point out he's part of our massive injury list... "Our full team would have won"

Next week will definitely determine how far Girgarre and Rushworth have come and should be the match of the round.
Think the week after will give more of a gauge of where both sides are at taking on Avenel and Nagambie. Great to see both sides getting wins on the board early, but reality is both have already lost games v middle of the pack sides (Tally and VT). Gig have pegged one back with an unexpected win v Murch, and they would need to beat Rushy well to have any chance of pushing for a finals spot. Whatever the result, hold off till the week after to make any assessments on where both sides are at.

Undoubtedly Gig and Rushy are still a long way off the top sides and neither should be daring to think about finals but next week is next week and in footy it's just one week at a time.

It puzzles me how a bloke kicks 12 goals and his direct opponent got In The best.. WTF.. Haha.. Nothing against sully top bloke but geez I'm confused.. ( and that doesn't take much )

ill re phrase that. I have heard by what I think is a good source (in the gig footy club) that he has signed and has moved to the area. did he play a one off game there last year??
He played 1 game last season when he was still coaching Sorento, has family ties in the area, and will be around most weekends, good get for Gig, things are looking up under there new coach, going about things the right way. When is his first game ?

i'll have to get back to u on that one. And yes things are looking up for gig! hopefully they can make finals it would be good to see.

I just noticed that the KDFL has the player points up on the website. Have they been up all year?
Interesting read, was surprised to see Lancaster with only 22 points ( every player worth 1 except for Jason Casey 3, and one player short). Not sure how that works when Jack Donnell and Besim Besim were recruited from Ky 2s, 2pts, and Beau Joyce Ky 3rds, from a junior comp so 3pts. Ky and Lancy must be classed as one club?!!
This point is why the player point system will not make any difference to evening up competition, MFL Premiers Nathalia have every player worth one point total of 22 for 22 players, Longwood on the other hand struggle to stay under 50!!o_O

Then Lanky also have Josh Berry and Sam Spedding from ky thirds on top of what u said. all tho I think Josh Berry may of done his hammy

It seems that in a game of two halves the bulbar benders were too polished for Rushworth. Nine goals to one in Girgarre's favour at half time but eight goals to five in favour of Rushworth in the second half. Top sides wouldn't want to underestimate either of these at the moment or could drop a valuable four points.

Unless those boys played Ky Under 16s (which I'm almost certain they did), Lanky could have lodged Ky 16s as a 'Junior Club' option, and with Lanky being their first KDL club they'd be 1 point - a 'Home Club' player. Thats the only scenario i can think of to how it adds up!

Yep that scenario crossed my mind, but they have to have played 40+ games so doubt too many would rack that number up in 2 years. If that is how it has worked, Merrigum, Girgarre, Stanhope could all make the same case for KY U/16s, Merrigum, Rushy, Stanhope could add other sides like Tat and Mooroopna

Correct Hank. I think we need to be able to count the games the boys play in our U18 competition. At the moment it isn't the case.

The system will need further refinement. Clubs probably won't feel the pinch for another 2 years as last year's players had a deduction applied on the implementation of the player points system.

Clubs like Nagambie and Nathalia have very low points due to keeping locals at the club. That is what the intention is with the player points, I hope it works. Clubs to get back to looking after their own instead of recruiting a 'touring crew' to win a premiership.

What if the town doesn't have locals. At Longwood we have very limited numbers of people from 14-21.
Not knowing the breakdown of the the towns population. So I can't say 100% if many in that age bracket are not playing but from what I no we have 6 people who live in the town in that age bracket playing at the club and that's about it in the town.
There is a lot of kids 6/10 years old so hopefully the plans in place sees these kids playing at the club.
(Plan would be there with or without point system)

Hang on to all the kids you can once we loose them to other towns or sports its damn hard work to get them back!!

That's my worry brownsnake the bigger towns with more juniors will just become stronger under the points system as their need to recruit is far less. I assume eventually your Longwood's and Ardmona's will have 50pts to use and Nagambie, Stanhope, Lancaster might only have 35 for example. That is the only way it may help, but the problem with that is could a Longwood or Ardmona sustain the spending needed to put a 50pt team on the park?

Even nagambie failed to get a under 18s side on the park last week

What a disgrace that is, already up to 100 kids not playing on the weekend in the KDL with byes, why couldn't 4 or 5 kids from any of those sides not make up the numbers? No excuse! When Merrigum first got their 3rds back up and running they only had 10-14 kids every week and relied on the sides having byes to lend them kids each week to get numbers, that worked.

Unless Kyabram Junior Football Club (ie 12s, 14s and 16s) all count as one club, so 40 games would suddenly be achievable
