Hes not worth what Bolton got. Bolton is a significantly better player at this stage. Melbourne will be well compensated but it wont be Bolton compo.

Probably worth about pick 6-8 in a straight swap, given his contract status. Depending on how late the Dockers 1st is, will need to add change. Pick 10-15. Add an early 2nd (or an F1 with a 2nd coming back). Pick 15+. Will need to add an F1 or another late 1st.

Weird this is coming out now. If he wanted to leave he's 3 months late. Could have requested a trade. Didnt. Should get on with job and not create any drama for the demons (if the rumors are actually true).

Pickett is better at the same age than what Bolton is. And it's not remotely close. After his first 5 years, Bolton had kicked 57 goals. Pickett 161 goals. Like you couldn't possibly even compare the 2 at the same age with a straight face.

We'll see how he goes this year. Kicked 33 goals in 2023 so it wasn't that long ago that he was playing high level footy as a small forward. 2024 may have just been a down year. In saying that, he's 34 now so he probably doesn't have many years left regardless. It would just be really interesting to see Bolton, Kozzy and Walters in the same forward line if all were playing good footy. You're probably right, though.

exactly. he will cost freo an arm and a leg. and rightly so. Out of contract then yeah, maybe an early first. but in contract, he's worth fair value and fair value is 2 pick 10's.

Fwiw I agree with the freo fans saying he's not worth that much. But the reality is when he's contracted until his free agency year freo are either going to pay that price of he will stay where he is. That's the leverage.

it's arguable. midfielders grow on trees. and Brayshaw has already fallen behind Serong. And arguably Hayden Young. And now Shai Bolton. There's a reason Brayshaw never cops a tag.
