You better tell those voices in your head, that they know F all and to STFU...

On a personal note, you need to stop listening to those voices mate, it's not good for your health!!!

Everything will be ok mate.

"Pav has indicated that Lachie Neale has formally asked to be released by Freo. More to come in Nine News tonight."

This was posted on the lachie neale appreciation FB page, Pav clearly a reliable source.

Lachie Neale's fiancé also just followed Brisbane lions on Instagram.

Great boost for the lions here.

Sh*t has become real all the sudden. Belt up!

Okay then I don't think a club like Fremantle who currently has an issue with retaining top line interstate players should get overs when those players ask to leave.
Well it hasn't happened, unless you are referring to Weller. The club showed clearly what it thinks is needed trade wise for a contracted player. What you think is irrelevant.

I go with nurries on this one BB, not every day you have an elite contested midfielder wanting to come to your club, just get the deal done IMO.

If we decide to wait Lachie could start thinking gee they don't really want me that badly I'll see what the Suns have to offer or a Melbourne club.

My comment was tongue in cheek Jas. Strike while the iron is hot, same as Cameron last year.

Absolutely..

They will have the bones of an extremely good team.

Defence: Andrews, Gardiner, Witherden

Midfield: Martin, Beams, Zorko, Neale, Robinson, Berry, McLuggage

Forward: Hipwood, Rayner, Cameron, Christensen

That's an exciting base to work off.

Lewis Taylor as well, pretty sure he led our goal assists for the year. McStay is another good one although personally I thought he was an A grade defender who has now gone to the forward line and been a C+ far more valuable down back

If he’s on $450k next year worringly that would have him as an unrestricted free agent next year. Surely that’s not in the top 10% of what we’re laying blokes.

Does where he sits in terms of a payment band at the former club have anything to do with the compensation pick or only what the new offer is?

How much the current club is paying affects whether he is restricted or unrestricted. How much the new club is paying affects the compensation pick.

His contract was heavily front end loaded. So he would still be restricted as his over all contract $ was in our most
I may be wrong about this but didn't James Frawley walk as an UFA because he was on a heavily front-end loaded deal that had him fall out of the top 10% in his final year?
Then again, this is the AFL we are talking about, they probably don't have a clear ruling on such things one way or another, that way, they can manipulate the rules to fit their needs at any time.

Nah it goes on their $ on the year they are FA this is why Frawley and Dahlhaus are both UFA as their contracts were front loaded.

Brisbane’s offer is $4million over 5 years, reportedly on $450,000 a season currently
IF that is correct, where does that leave the idea that it isn't about the money* stand? I mean, in the end it is $350K more per year, which if the Lions wanted him to wait until FA after next year would be a massive personal loss.

*I think Neale is negotiating his contract now rather than during the final year of his contract. I am pleased he is doing it now rather than having it troll through most of next season, and that is whichever way it goes. Not only does it lock him in for the long term, but it also means a big increase immediately as a reward for his service.

In all likelihood that contract will be with Fremantle. To change that the Lions would need to offer 1) a contract substantially above what Fremantle would match (which I don't think $800K is), and 2) a trade offer that Fremanlte can't resist, and that is not pick 5 no matter how good the draft.

UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS

Players delisted by a club are unrestricted free agents but a player who retires or delists himself is not eligible to be a free agent.

Players who are not in the top 25 per cent of salaries at their club (that is, in the club’s top nine-10 paid players) are eligible for unrestricted free agency if they have served at least eight years with the club.

HOW THE TOP 25 PER CENT IS DETERMINED

The top 25 per cent of players on a club’s list (top nine-10 paid players) are based on the guaranteed contract values in the relevant contract year (including ASAs).

The AFL releases the names of those eligible players before round one of each season. An updated list of restricted and unrestricted free agents is issued during the season when changes occur and a final list issued during Grand Final week.

Adding this into the fray, I fully expect Lachie to stay. His manager is doing his job, make Freo renegotiate the final year of his contract to get the best for Lachie, well played!

It looks from here that he is using the Lions and playing with their supporters emotions...

Keep telling yourself that.

Freo fans seemed to have moved on to the next stage of the 5 stages of grief relating to losing a star player.
