same same

Freo : fyfe, hills, neale, walters, bennell, wilson, ryan, darcy, cerra, brayshaw...obviously need some fwd work maybe King or king in draft
Bris : rayner, hipwood, zorko, beams, cameron, berry, mcluggage .... probably more across each but not as quality

I think freo have a decent squad, they just fluctuate so much, having a few older players move on will help, similar to Mitch and Priddis helped us ( although pearce and Johnson didn't play a huge amount this year. They will both land decent guys if they keep their picks this year.

or i could just know something or nothing (we'll all find out soon enough i guess)
Um you forgot Harris Andrews, Alex Witherden, Christensen and Gardiner

Brisbane could have a starting midfield of Stef Martin, Beams, Zorko & Neale.

**** that looks good

Absolutely..

They will have the bones of an extremely good team.

Defence: Andrews, Gardiner, Witherden

Midfield: Martin, Beams, Zorko, Neale, Robinson, Berry, McLuggage

Forward: Hipwood, Rayner, Cameron, Christensen

That's an exciting base to work off.

I do wonder if there is a potential 3 way trade with Geelong/Kelly involved?

Until all teams have finished the season, it is all up in the air. The teams in the finals haven't been brought into the trade talks, what happens when another 8 teams come into the discussions.

As I've said, a lot of the trades will not be sorted till weeks after the grand final. Players who have already finished the season, may be happy to test the waters and enjoy free lunches and accommodation, who knows ?.

According to Scottie Watters, Freo have been rebuilding for 5 years and the Lions only two. Hence I get the optimism that Brisbane will be great.

They’ve been on a constant rebuild considering everyone they have lost including staff.
Who has left in the last few years
Rocky, yeo, redden, aish, schache, Polec, probably a few more I can’t think of although gained beams, bundy, Martin, Cameron.

I like Brisbane, they seem to have a positive outlook with talent, I always seem to be suckered into tipping them.

Does no one rate Hamling and Tassie Pearce ?. They are the leaders of the backline, which is one area Freo are definitely on the up.

Agreed, however, I was posting a sample, agree that there are more players on both sides that you could put down, I left out Mundy& sandi and a couple of others as well. Merely highlighting that realistically neither side is better or worse

I think its reasonable to say there is decent talent on both lists. However I don't think Andrews in particular falls into the Mundy/sandi category - they are nearing retirement while he is a top 5 key defender in the league and he isn't 22 yet.

I like Hamling and Pearce and I think Freo have some exciting tall forward development prospects but I'd take Brisbane's spine every day. Freo's mids (including Neale) stronger than ours though.

I reckon Brisbane by more than a nose.

Brisbane have lost quite a few players on paper, but I think it's pretty much only the 'Go Home 5' that really hurt them. And of those, only three ended up being any great loss. Karnezis went nowhere, and Longer can't nail down a spot in a poor team. Maybe add Schache to that if he continues to build on his 2018 form.

But IIRC most of the rest either went went Brisbane's blessing, or were actively traded out to bring other players in.

Correct. Also from the go home five leaving we drafted Taylor,Cutler,McStay & Gardiner. From the Schache trade we got Bailey and Wooller. Did well from the Aish trade too

It’s okay/decent

Clearly behind

Gawn, Oliver, Brayshaw, Viney
Grundy, Treloar, Pendlebury, Adams
Stanley, Dangerfield, Selwood, Ablett
Naitanui, Shuey, Yeo, Gaff
Lobb, Ward, Kelly, conigilio

Probably the 6-8th best midfield park, although inside mids really isn’t what Brisbane with, but more so skillful outside mids, they really lack a Sidebottom/gaff/kelly/Macrae/Duncan
who can actually set up plays.

There’s a reason why Melbourne loses the midfield battle as a whole at times despite their stoppage dominance.

Beams, Neale, Martin, Zorko are all in top 20% of players for their roles but no one but maybe Beams is really a top 10 player

Brisbane's midfield + Neale would be good but it is a bit samey.

We added Jack Redden and Sam Mitchell to ours and not a lot changed. Now Elliott Yeo is playing in the middle and it's making a big difference.

I reckon the key for Brisbane going forward is Rayner stepping up. He could be a real game breaker.

Rayner will be a part of that inside set up going forward. Bailey and Starc too.
