If we beat the Swans and take the Freo game from earlier in the year we are 13.5 wins with a game to go and almost a lock for finals and the pressure on Schultz would be nowhere near as big. I mean there is a world where we are right in the finals race this year.

Hus finishing has been below average but his effort has always been 100%. For that reason, I am much happier with him than Ginnivan.

Hopefully that match winning last quarter gives him the confidence for next year. I smell a resurgent Pies in 2025.

Also bemused me that people struggle to have even keel conversations around pies and the players within it.

As in some people only see positives and don't have a bad word said about any player as if they are perfect.

Some people get uber defensive over certain players even if you are saying they are amazing players but does have X weaknesses to improve. Etc. Some just can't handle the truth.

anecdotal but of the pies supporters I know irl a number are still pining for ginni and have fixated on Schultz as a result, it’s quite bizarre.

I have only ever posted re trade cost being overs and in regards to Schultz the player have repeatedly stated he will be a solid player for us but feel he has been fumbly and poor converter in front of goal this year.
All are true statements so far in his Pies time.

And what I said in the post you quoted was 100% accurate of a certain click of posters on this board.

So many on here can't have a discourse of positives and negatives on players. They see negatives mentioned and throth at the mouth.

Critiquing players constructively is fine. Vitriol and personal attacks isn’t.
I’m not saying you have been doing this but a few on here have been terrible toward Schultz.
Conveniently, several are very quiet this weekend after Shooter was a game winner for us. In fact, we should put out a missing person’s report for one in particular.

According to McRae, Schultz has been contributing on the ground the way we need him to. Maybe it’s supporters who just aren’t getting it right. Missed set shots isn’t the only metric the team assesses him against obviously. I certainly think he’s had a good season.

Multiple times throughout a game he has gut run from the forward line to defence laid a tackle or a shepherd then has then run back back I50 to present an option, which may not be picked up on TV. What has been a stand out to me at games is that everything he does is 100% effort. He doesn't pick and choose when he will make an effort. There are no little steps when he is running to a contest or one arm half-hearted attempts to tackle. He has consistently put his body in harms way without hesitation. These people are worth their weight in gold

Yes has great attack on the ball. Schultz as a player is decent pick up for the role.

People need to separate criticism of trade cost vs criticism of player.

I haven’t posted in one (whilst at the game for years) and in general don’t even bother reading it.
It’s our version of free speech and giving people enough rope.
If something breaks the rules it is reported and acted upon by the wider Mod community if our team can’t.

No pretending that you've been supportive all along when you were bagging them out 20 minutes earlier, no disappearing when they come good, no changing accounts when you make a terrible call. If we had baulked at his cost last year, we might've instead held onto Adams and Ginnivan to their contracts for this year instead of trading them for peanuts. With Adams filling the Mitchell role, we might've had a better chance at finals. Ginnivan certainly had the potential to have had at least 2 matchwinning games that Shultz provided this year (North and Brisbane) or at least he would've brought excitement and energy from the crowd that Schultz just doesn't generate. No one is starting a Collingwood chant because Schultz is running up and down the ground chasing and shepharding.

Even if it didn't change our ladder position and we still trade out Adams and Ginnivan this year, at least we would have our pick 7-10 for this year (and also have a higher second round pick instead of whatever Hawthorn's ends up being). We can then choose to either take that to a really strong draft this year or actually have the trade capital to go after a Smith or even Petracca, targets that would fill way more of a need for us.

To top it all off, Shultz might also have still been available this year as a UFA for free.

And this isn't hindsight. I've been against the trades last year ever since the they were announced (as have many other posters that get continually shut down by the collingwood propaganda poster bots)

Chris Mayne was not good for us, I don't know why people want to rewrite history on this.

He started terribly, then he became an okay role player at best. He looked good on the stats sheet but his ball use was always incredibly defensive and we played a lot better once he was replaced.

Ginnivan had to go. Too undisciplined off-field. Maybe if we were Gold Coast or some team nobody cares about, he could get away with his indiscretions. But Collingwood is the club the media and public love to crucify as soon as anyone at the club has a minor indiscretion. Think back to all the scandals and crap that get played out for months and even years in the media. These things happen at other clubs, it gets a mention and never heard of again.

I completely understand why they got rid of Ginnivan. And we could not keep Adams because he wanted midfield time and we don't need him there. Out of respect, let him go. He's served the club well, why would we hold onto him?
