After much thought I have pieced together my best dig at Lance Franklin's whereabouts in 2014. I do not no for sure that this will come about but give it a read and see what you think. Please post thoughts, it's as follows;

* Hawthorn have said to be in talks with buddy all through this season, and with nothing coming of it, I believe Buddy wants to keep his options open and see what's there in 2013,

* As the weeks go by that he does not sign, especially if the season starts and or he "puts contract talk on hold until the end of the season" it will become ironic and cloudy

* Buddy is a WA boy, with some family over there I believe (someone find something on this?)

* Sharrod Wellingham a man he spent so much time with seeing him every day, which, if he does go to WCE buddy will miss.

* FREO had 1 mil to throw at Cloke,which they threw days after he said he would put contract talks on hold until after the season, and with no major signings as of yet... They will most likely still have the money to throw at Buddy
Not sure all those needed to be on their on line pretty much repeating your self, first thing contract talks have only started now since its a bit hard to work out a contract extension with out knowing how the list will look. Second his family lives in Melbourne and have for some time now. Third Wellingham and him are friend like many people at Hawthorn after all they're not lovers why chase one friend to lose a bunch? Fourth contract tie ups change and though Fremantle still might be able to offer 1 mill plus if it wasn't enough to get Cloke why would it be enough to get Buddy?

Didn't the majority of his family move to Victoria? I'm not that worried he bleeds Brown and Gold and he has grown up with his best mates (Roughy) at Hawthorn and I don't think he will be leaving us. Plus Buddy is just a kid in a big mans body. He wants to play with his mates and win games, that his priority and that's where his joy lies in.

We will sign him up and if he doesn't well then Jeff Kennett will haunt him for the rest of his life. :D

  • He loves Hawthorn, and has previously turned down significantly more lucrative deals before
  • Hawthorn are currently in a premiership window, and who know where we will be at that time
  • Hawthorn have a host of stars to retire in the next 4 or 5 years, so Buddy might get a pretty big deal
  • His family have moved down to Melbourne, and he has been here quite a long time, so a large number of his friends/family are here
  • He has previously mentioned how much he loves Melbourne, and does not want to move away from 'the home of footy'
That third point of the op is ridiculous. Of course Hawthorn would be in talks with him when his contract runs out in a year. What chance would we have of keeping him if we hadn't at least begun talking. Just because a player hasn't re-signed 5 years before their contract expires, doesn't mean they will leave. Cloke has a history of pretending he's going to leave to get a better deal, and even he re-signed. So many stars have re-signed during their final year of contract, stop blowing trying to blow this up into something it's not. Just cos Cloke is a greedy bastard, doesn't mean that everyone is.

Wow Burn! :D

I am not saying it will happen in fact I want him to stay.... I just wonder if it will have a Travis Vloke effect as it will be a massive media story for months, bigger than Clokes saga

He is only a hack who only costs his side GF wins. Can't kick. Has mental issues. Drug taker. A sniping thug. Will never be considered a champion. Big headed egotistical Moo. Lazy. Cheats with his kicking arc. Never be as good as Riewoldt. Overrated.......according to the experts on here.

So why would Freo ever want a player like that. Should be happy if Hawks even offer him a base salary. :)

Finally, someone comes out and said it :D

Even with very, very purpled-tinted glasses, I can't see it happening. Dude just seems like a one club player. He's a big city boy now, and I just don't think Perth has what he wants or needs. Even if Freo do extremely well, I can't see him seriously leaving the Hawks.

Barrassi. Williams. Lockett. Judd. Ablett Jr.

Has happened before and will happen again. Buddy may be one of them, I wouldn't be surprised either way TBH.

5 footballers in 100+ years? I didn't say it's never happened, I said its rare.

Glass, Embley & Adam Selwood retire just in time for a massive offer to Budwood. I reckon chances are slim and none that he doesn't test free agency.

After much thought I have pieced together my best dig at Lance Franklin's whereabouts in 2014. I do not no for sure that this will come about but give it a read and see what you think. Please post thoughts, it's as follows;

* Lance Franklin becomes out of contract at the end of the 2013 AFL season

* He will be a restricted Free Agent, in comparison The Travis Cloke of this year

* Hawthorn have said to be in talks with buddy all through this season, and with nothing coming of it, I believe Buddy wants to keep his options open and see what's there in 2013

*

Buddy will sign an extension this pre-season like he does every contract time. Unlike Cloke he will not hold the club to ransom, he is not a twat like Cloke.

I can understand your experience this year may have led you to believe that all uncontracted forwards are about themselves over the greater good of the team but it's just not true. In fact most players who aren't Cloke just sign and get on with it.
