Hi All... Just wondering is it possible to Lay a Multi Bet on betfair?

I put a bet on Gary Ablett Jnr Brownlow into Geelong to win the Premiership early in the piece and got odds @ 410 - 1

Is it possible to now lay this bet for a small fraction? or would it not be worthwhile?

Haven't ever layed a bet in the past so I really know nothing about how it works

Amazing odds in hindsight - how much did you have on?

You can't lay multis on Betfair (well you can, but usually related to the same sport - like the weekend's AFL or EPL matches, but that's off topic). You can work it out that you win a fair bit no matter what happens though - you'd have to lay Ablett and Geelong individually though.

Ablett currently 2.62, Geelong currently 2.28.

Just say you had $10 on that multi at 410, your profit would be $4090 if you let it ride. You could make at least $1K no matter what happened if you play your cards right. I'll make up a spreadsheet for you so you can work out what to do - PM me your email address.

Great forecasting there Higgo! That bet is a big chance to come off at the massive odds you secured, although I'm hoping the Cats bomb out in the big one. :) No hard feelings though! :D

haha its a bit of a fluke mate, I usually have a $50 multi at the start of the year on the cats.. just happened to still be in it this year... I can understand your feeling about the cats bombing out, I gotta admit I love it when Carlton get spanked... for reasons you will probably understand! :thumbsu:

I'd be waiting until Gazza wins the Medal before you start laying.

Remember you have not got a leg up yet. A bit of an early crow IMO to lay multis at this stage as you might easily end up with a "greasy pig".
Hence the questions on if it would be worthwhile, johnnyhoward already helped me out and worked out that it wouldn't be worth it at this stage.... I've never really layed a bet before so I wasn't sure..

btw whats with all the Metaphors? you sound like my year 10 english teacher, hold up a sec is that you Mr. Dadich?

You could always ring up the bookies and give them an offer they can't refuse - depending on your persuasion, you could probably work out a bet where you're in the position of laying and give them the 4/1 (or whatever it is) odds of that multi. Slim hope though, as I said before you're better off letting it ride Higgo.
