Sweet looks a cut above him?
Soldo was very ****ing good before he hurt his knee after we tried to turn him into Charlie Dixon for a game.
And he had a poor return after we brought him back into the side underdone, and he never got the chance to re-establish that connection with the midfield.

Terrible comparison. Renouf was a terrible player, Soldo is not.

Someone suggested Barnett from WCE.
Couple of years in the system now.
Should be at the stage of getting reasonable games under his belt, but WC seem to favour Williams as #1 ruck with chopouts from others incl Allen.
Maybe he wants to come home?

Renouf was a serviceable ruckman until he was squeezed out by McEvoy.
Soldo was a serviceable ruckman until he was squeezed out by Nankervis.
I think Sweets been a revelation, he was clearly good enough but never going to take English's place as number 1 ruck at the Bulldogs.

Has Soldo been that good though? Its a sample size of games and if you look at the premiership ruckman in past years they're more serviceable and provide a contest than being star players.

Would be amazed if West Coast handed Barnett over. Still a baby ruck 20 years old. Don't think he'd be taken seriously for another couple of years.
If the West Coast would be interested in a reasonable deal we should be all over it but I don't think they'd be reasonable.
Noticed he just signed a 2 year extension in June. Looked at his highlights from the 1 game he did play and there's a couple of things he does there against the Giants that suggests he's going to be pretty smart and West Coast just need someone like Ivan for 2-3 years while he develops. Ivan would be prefect.

Not sure how exactly Renouf managed to get 'squeezed out by McEvoy' considering that Renouf left Hawthorn in 2011 and McEvoy didn't arrive until 2014?
West Coast's preferred ruckman is Matt Flynn. They wanted Bailey Williams to just be a forward this year. But Flynn got a bad hamstring injury in the preseason, then injured his ankle in his last game against Hawthorn.

Max Bailey's performances in 2011 was what convinced them to trade Renouf. Except injuries got in the way of him play much.
Saints better be prepared to increase the trade offer for Houston if they want Soldo too 
Classic.
Dodson will likely go 1st round and we'll have the same issue in 2 years to what we're having now where we may have 3 genuine ruckman capable of playing AFL. I'd much rather use up a late pick to draft a 3rd choice ruckman like a Ryan Borlace

Dodson is legitimately mobile and athletic.
Dante rucks most of the game Dodson his first year could play pretty much anywhere you want him to play on the ground. Across half back, on the wing, forward if you like?
You don't need a 18 year old getting bashed in the ruck by mature bodies in the sanfl.
He just needs 10 minutes here and there when it's a good idea.
Second year as a 19 year old he's had a couple of pre-seasons you let him play in the Ruck more and against the bigger bodies.
Third year as a 20 year old let's see what he's got and a AFL game or 2.
Year 4 we have a 31 year old Jordan Sweet slowing down.
A 26 year old Dante in his prime.
A 22 year old Dodson hopefully flying.
So Dante and Dodson fighting for number one spot.
Waste of a trade.
