Speculation Liam Baker [reportedly headed west]

Time for some house cleaning.

1) Do not drag discussions or individual posts over here from other threads or boards.

Feel free to respond to those posts wherever they were posted, if you so choose.

2) Enough with the personal attacks. It’s a long season and this one may go the distance, so if you want to remain a part of the discussion, do it respectfully.

We will use thread bans and infractions if necessary.

People might rate Barrass overall as a player & position, but Baker has 5-6 years of good footy left.

Barrass is towards the end of his career, hoping to get another Premiership to end.
Yep, if you needed to pick one of them for right now, you take Barrass but long term, they are miles apart.

Barrass wil retire with a ****ed back

One is born in October and one in January, there is effectively two years between them. If Barrass is on his death bed, Baker ain't far behind. Or, they actually have quite a few years left each.

This. Maybe I've got some bias because I don't tend to watch every West Coast game, but every memory I have of Barrass includes Jack Riewoldt toweling him up.
I was just thinking the same thing. Jack used to lick him lips when he saw barrass. I remember one game where he continuously turned it over. One of the best kpp in the game? lol

Tigers interest in pick 3 is real then, they want 2 of the top mids.
He didn't really say anything we didn't at least strongly suspect already
Clarke said "A pick in the early teens is about the agreed value"
Blair said "We at in the early stages of working through a deal"

Why would Matt concede an early elevated value position for a player who is uncontracted and can be pressured to walk from Richmond. It is obvious that Blair is running this and playing Ken-Doll-Clarke like a fiddle. Clarke may be a Richmond corporate espionage operator?
Matt the rat

Good Richmond man is Matt.

Yes, yes. It's everyone else's glory except the guy at another club/the one in charge at the time.

We all know how it works.
Jackson and Clarke worked the 2017 draft together before he became fully in charge as head of Richmond recruiting from 2018-2023

2017:

17: Higgins - Pass
20: Coleman-Jones - Fail
25: Balta - Big tick
34: Naish - Fail
63: Miller - Still up for debate
Rookie: Baker - Big tick

2018:

20: Collier-Dawkins - Fail
43: Ross - Pass
58: Turner - Fail
62: English - Fail
Rookie: Chol - Pass

2019:

Dow - Fail
Cumerland - Fail
Martyn - Fail
Ralphsmith - Pass
Nyuon - Fail

-------------------

So Clarke worked with FJ in 2017 and drafted Balta and Baker, who were part of the 2019 and 2020 flags. Everybody else was a non-factor and, when Clarke took over himself, he has failed over and over.

Yes we employed the guy as head recruiter and magically started winning flags instantly. Magician :$

We are now last with mostly his list lol

He was there for 10 years, not 4.

I mean, you blokes are the ones talking up Baker, yet conveniently leave out mentioning that Clarke was the one who picked him

Clarke was at Richmond since 2009.

You think he sat on his hands for 8 years?

As an assistant lol. As main guy he picked Baker and Balta too. 2 good ones in 7 drafts. What a gun.

There are few maybes as well that may save him looking like a complete dud. Time will tell but not looking like he did any good for us.

Lucky for you guys you haven't brought him in for that role.

Hmm, ok.

Se we have Richmond supporters in this thread telling us he was pulling all the strings and will look after Richmond and we now have Richmond supporters telling us that no, he in fact didn't contribute to anything and is now a complete dud.

Got it.
