Liam Reidy hit the press today saying he is a bit frustrated not being able to get a game for Freo. He is the best ruck in the WAFL over the last 2 years by a fairly big margin. 24 year old from the VFL. Only okayish around the ground but actual tap work is elite. At a club like Fremantle he has seen that even when rucks are injured he isnt gonna play so I think he will be on the move

Would probably just go for a pick upgrade really and basically will be a freebie for anyone who wants. I think he will go to one of the losers of the Ned Moyle battle so one of Richmond, Doggies, St Kilda will be the winner here

Comfortably the best ruck at WAFL, not sure how the rest of the country looks for rucks at the moment but I can definitely see him leaving to get a look in somewhere else. I'm not sure he'll ever be a number 1 AFL ruck to be honest but the guy has confidence and seems to really want it so maybe a club thinks he can be that guy.

Would wish him the best if he left, Knobel must be getting bored having to play Peel reserves anyway

Not sure he has enough tricks in his bag to make it at AFL level, but Freo is one of the worst positions for a guy like him to be stuck behind two elite rucks

His tap work is just elite though. By elite I mean say top 3 in the AFL when he comes in like elite. Just has that ability to see the space and tap to it.

I feel like that 1 trick is enough to get a gig at AFL level, especially for a side that can put their number 1 ruck up forward to let Reidy do more ruck work then a standard 2nd stringer

Tap ruckmen that can't do anything around the ground are beginning to die out. These days you either have to have good follow-up work and become an extra midfielder, or have half-decent forward craft.

So he may struggle to find another home if he can't add another string to his bow.

He may struggle to find a club to be a #1 ruck at. He wouldn't have any trouble getting a contract to be a back up. If Stanley retires he would be the sort of guy Geelong would look at as ruck insurance. Pencil Conway in for ~ 15 games in 2025 and give someone else ~8.

I'd take him at the Dons given how often Draper's injured and Goldy was realistically only a 1 or 2 year prospect. I really liked his work at Frankston, I know Yoda_ is a fan too

A ruckman thay doesn't find much of the ball and doesn't take marks. Sounds like a backup at best.
If Kieran Strachan can stay on a list for 6 years, there is a spot somewhere for Reidy

I would take him as we will need more ruck depth next year (he would probably play for us now).

He is safe as houses on our list at the moment. Only way he won't be on our list for the foreseeable future is if he does a Meek.

Id put him as a better version of Jordan Sweet who kind of went in to Port as a backup but now is playing as no 1 this week.

At AFL level he would suit the side who wants a ruck who plays that 90% game time. With Ned Moyle off the market I can see the market for this guy growing

Which is what he will do. Hes not going to sit behind darcy and jackson when he could play more elsewhere.

I'm not sure he's a number 1 ruck tbh, handy depth but you wouldn't want him playing every week. Doesn't do enough outside tapwork

Realistically, I can only see Melbourne and Geelong making a play for him.

Not a knock on the man, far from it, but the way I see things every other club has their main rucks settled in.

I dont think hes a star but theres a number of clubs where he would play 10-15 games next year whereas at freo he will play 0.
Does need to develop his game though.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't even offer him a contract, not because he's no good but because Knobel projects as an AFL level ruck and needs to get out of Peel reserves. They might just bank on at least one of Jackson and Darcy being fit at all times and play Knobel if really desperate.

Definitely no grudges if he leaves, just peeps shouldn't be expecting a Meek if they get him, he's a discount Meek.

I dont think youll need to worry about offering him a deal as he wont want to stay he will leave for opportunity.

But point taken you would know better than me if hes as good as meek.
