Lingy may well have sought Macca out for guidance in respect of what's already been put in front of him. Probably having coffee with Bomber on Mt Alexander Road tomorrow.

I'd put my money on it being something like this ^. He may have an interview with Norf.

But hopefully it was more like this

Macca: Lingy, I know you've got a few offers in front of you at the moment but I'd like you to consider this. Our list, planning and development suggests we're on course for a shot at the flag in 2018 and should be able to sustain a long run at it from that point on. At the conclusion of the 2018 season I'd like to focus on the recruiting and development side of things at the club to ensure it's long term viability and success so in the interim I'd like to build up a young coach to take over from that point. Would you be interested?

If you were referring to my post all I was saying was to have a bit of balance in the coaches dept and look at the best person for the job not just a mate who wants a job and might turn out ok.
Why would you think Macca would just want to do a "mate" a favour? That's kind of like saying he plays favourites among the players. If he wants Ling to work with it's because, knowing Ling so well, he believes he would bring something of value to the coaching program.

I wasn't insinuating that Macca plays favourites with players as I think he's doing a great job coaching the kids but I'm just a tad wary that his judgement in recruiting coaches maybe clouded by the players (Lingy's) success on the field rather than bringing value to the club.
I understand we all just want quality people to be at our club but for me I don't feel Ling is a good fit for us.
Don't ask me why. It's just a vibe. ;)

Don't understand the fascination with Ling as a coach. He is hopeless as a boundary rider so it's certainly not from any insight he delivers there. I'm sure he's a nice guy and he certainly got a lot out of himself as a player but this is just the media mates club at work. No one knew who Clarkson or Lyon were before they were appointed so the obsession the media has with pumping ex players up as potential coaches is bizarre.

Nothing in it. 2 mates having a coffee... No biggie... Shit, imagine the stories/innuendo if Bomber Thomspon came to the Pound Cafe to catch up with Brendan for a coffee.

I'm pretty sure Bomber and Macca are in regular contact. Just ... not this week ... ;)

I would just remind you guys a certain VD was spotted wandering the seedy streets of Adelaide after the Port game.
By the , just in case you are wondering , I just got lost !
I doubt it, you looked like you knew were you going
Few female shows down the way you were walking :p

+1 for it probably being mates catching up.

Would certainly welcome him though, just doubt it'd happen.

Props to you, Mutt. One of my favourite words :p

Needed the correct use of diacritical marks to receive genuine props. tête-à-tête ;)
