Regarding ticket sales/swaps: The AFL Grand Final is protected under Australian law by anti-scalping regulations, which forbid tickets to be sold at more than 10% of their face value. Offering tickets at more than this will be deleted; continuing to try to scalp tickets will result in bans.

BigFooty does not guarantee ticket sales or swaps. It is entirely at your own risk, please make sure you trust the poster in question. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Bad news for our family. We are P1 members. Registered in the ballot okay for the six of us on my brother in-law's credit card, so we can sit together. Unfortunately when it came time to pay, payment failed as unbeknown to my brother in-law, his credit card had a transaction limit less than the sum total. So we missed out on tickets. Apparently there's no recourse with Ticketek. My brother in-law is really torn up, gutted to have let us all down so badly. I/we don't blame him at all, but we are very disappointed, especially for the kids, who've never be to a granny but have heard all the stories of our previous successes. We'll try the club tomorrow, but don't hold much hope.
This was one of my fears, this is a horrible situation that could have happened to anyone... bad luck mate.
I read on Twitter of one Pie who got a text saying please make sure there is enough in your account by X time, maybe they try again?

Depending on how many tickets they required, their card may not have enough on the limit to cover in the first place.

It was an irrational fear of mine over the weekend as I just have a low credit limit card running at the moment, made sure to settle it all during the week and used my debit all weekend.

Yep i have read that your tickets are still set aside, you just have to pay for them

Get your bro in law to increase limit, call ticketek and club for sure

Didn’t work for us. Foundation Members and September Members since it’s inception and Priority 1 allocation yet relegated to Category 4 tickets. I’m not ungrateful because people obviously missed out and I do feel for them but to say I’m not pissed is a massive understatement and I know we’ll never get answers but how have Priorty 2 and 3 people wound up with Category 1 tickets?
Sorry for the intrusion, but you pay for the guarantee of a seat, no the best seat. Frankly, it would be un-Australian if money was the reason why club members all got the best seats at a GF. A mix of Priority 1, 2, and 3 for the best seats seems fairer to me then simply all the Priority 1 people getting the best seats as a default. In fact, fairer still would be no guarantee of a seat at all with all members who want tickets going into a raffle, but then clubs can't milk that "guaranteed seat" money out of supporters.

Anyway, I just came on your board to say the most passionate Brissy supporter I know (I live in Brissy) doesn't have the money for Priority One membership despite being the hardest working person I know and he very much deserves the Category 1 ticket he managed to score. The GF is a privilege few can afford. Any seat is the best seat.

Good luck, Lions!! I will be cheering for your boys loud from up here in Brisbane.

FWIW judging by people's responses on here that was roughly how it did work.

Those of us who were priority 1 got categories 1-4. Judging by when people were posting about their CC charges coming in, it definitely looked like category 1 went first with X priority 1s assigned, then cat 2, etc.

Priority 2 posters then came in and tended towards Cat 4-7. Priority 3 got Cat 7/standing room.

I can't see many, if any, priority 2 posters saying they got cat 1 or 2.

I was surprised to read how the ballot works with no preference to seating categories, think they could solve some of these issues by having some sort of preference of where to sit, I’m sure there’s plenty of people who wouldn’t want to pay $500 to go to the game while there are others who would happily pay more

I don’t agree. All P1’s should’ve received category 1; once that category is exhausted, it spills into category 2. There shouldn’t be a situation where a P1 member ends up with worse seats than a P2 or P3 member. I can understand if they are equal as but not worse off. Just a ridiculous situation that punishes longevity and loyalty all because of randomness.

All well and good saying a P1 is guaranteed a seat, but how is it that P2 and P3 are still getting better seats when by rights P1 should exhaust category 1, spill into category 2 and so on?
I believe that is actually what happened - there are less tickets in cat 1, 2, 3, etc., than you think.

If the club gets 17K tickets and they're split between all of the categories (7 + standing room), then even if its an even allocation (doubtful) thats only just over 2000 tickets per category.

I've also read an unconfirmed report there are roughly 7000 people in P1 for Brisbane - if true, therefore some of us (me included) ended up in cat 4.

As has been said multiple times there isn't a single confirmed report yet of a P2 member getting anything better than cat 5.

My understanding is that Cat 4 is where it tipped over to P2. I'm P1 and got Cat 4 as well - reckon we were the last few allocated. Still just happy to be in the ground, good exercise going up those stairs too :)
In contrast to Collingwood who apparently instructed Ticketek to make it completely random and annoyed a lot of Pie members in doing so.

Hence Ticketek releasing the statement that said, We have carried out the ballot according to Collingwood's instructions.

To settle the uncertainty anxiety that many of you legends may experience this week RE your vantage point, these links should help:

Melbourne Cricket Ground Virtual Venue™ by IOMEDIA
Melbourne Cricket Ground | 3D seatmap
MCG - Find my seat
Melbourne Cricket Ground - Interactive All Seating Chart

The IOMEDIA tool, in my opinion gives the most realistic example of an in-person perspective. Reason being, photos make the playing surface seem further away than one's raw vision. The second (3D) one is really good too; make sure to toggle to the MCG tab for the Aussie Rules configuration.

I know a few people are a bit upset at what has happened regarding seats and the ballot.

For people that read this thread and followed what was discussed they should be fine.

The biggest "traps" for want of a better word.

(a)
Not ticking the option "including standing room".
It was discussed on this thread with people confused as to why.
The reasons were given but still the discussion continued.
Also, there was a clear indication of this issue, on the screen, when people logged into Ticketek when applying for the ballot.
The risk you ran to even missing out on tickets if you did not tick this option.
I think some people decided for some reason or other (going with an elderly person maybe) not to select this option.

(b)
Your family and friends had a variety of P1 & P2 tickets. Or even P1, P2 & P3
If you decided, we all want to sit together that would seriously affect which type of seat Category you ended up with.
Priority access drops down for P1, it does not go up for those P2 & P3. So P1 drops to P2 or even P3.
So, if you decided to go with friends and dropped down to P2 statis and for some reason did not tick "including standing room" you just fell into dangerous territory to even missing out altogether.

(c)
Credit/debit card details failed for some reason.
Seeing they deduct the $6 fees beforehand the card details have to be correct.
So that only leaves credit card limits or daily limits as a possible issue.
