Coach Lions - Has the Fagan era already peaked?

All this talk that the Lions shoulda got Clarkson, they shoulda got Lyons. In that case how about we shoulda gone the whole hog and got Bomber Thompson. He would have found a way to inject some enthusiasm into this group.

The can’t win away from home narrative is amusing.

In 2022 (where we finished 6th) we won 6 out of 11 games which required us to travel. Sydney who finished 3rd had one more win with 7 (and that is counting the win against GWS as a travel game, it would be 6 otherwise).

Collingwood won 3 out of 5 games which required travel.

So Collingwood has a similar percentage to Brisbane, but I suppose they don't travel enough for someone to make the same link.
It’s not like Victorian teams are great away either. It’s just interstate teams that get called out for it.

It's a tough one.

All the usual names like Yze, Caracella, Burns etc will be thrown up, but do you really want a guy who's been knocked back by multiple clubs? I suppose they need a chance at some point.

Not exactly easy to find, but the next Craig McCrae has to be out there somewhere. I guess you either take the punt or tread water with Fagan and hope for a bradbury style premiership.
Took Scott a very long time after inheriting an elite list in 11.

Reckon Fagan has time.

Bit of revisionist history there. He took over an elite - but old - list and won the premiership in 2011. After that, until the latter 2010s the list was mediocre after the retirement of our premiership stars.

After 2022, a lot of us have looked back in hindsight and questioned why we ever expected a premiership in that era. A forward line of a star in Hawkins, and a bunch of battlers in Kersten, Murdoch, Josh Walker, etc.

It was pretty much like this for every third of the ground. We had Selwood, Hawkins and Taylor and surrounded them with mediocre players and ageing champions who weren't what they once were. It'll get you into the finals, but it won't win you premierships.

It's another reason why we adore Selwood so much. Between 2012 and 2016, he was single handedly dragging that midfield over the line most weeks.

This Lions list is built for the now, and has been for some time. They lack for nothing talent wise, they just can't get it done, and that comes back to the coach.

I think you missed the boat a few years with the list. But agree on Selwood, one of the best.

Great culture guy and would be an amazing assistant.

He isn't a head coach, has taken this team as far as they can go, I said on here after last year they should have offered the job to Clarko.

They will beat us at the Gabba next week as they do most teams but lose the big ones in Melbourne and crap all over the bed come finals.

It's now or never for the Lions and they are absolutely wasting this opportunity with Fagan as head coach.
Not a good culture guy.

Total dickhead.

Get your s**t together, Brisbane.

His comments about Daisy were pathetic. Luke Darcy goes into the change rooms and he is a director at the WB.

Add in the Hawthorn business.
If Luke Darcy is a Director of the Dogs we can safely rule them out for the next decade

The man is as thick as a boat load of planks.

I remember when Brisbane were a training ground and all their high picks left after a year or two. Things have turned around for them massively and Fagan is a big part of that.
