Adelaide smashed Richmond at home that year. You may believe what you want, but they are the facts.
Who really knows. Adelaide may just been overcome by the occasion.
But the side with familiarity with the ground and not travelling does have a little more of their routine available to deal with that occasion.

MCG is almost certainly an advantage to Vic sides, and especially those who play there regularly (North or St Kilda, if either make a GF before the expansion of the sun, likely won't have that part of the advantage). The size of that advantage is hard to really tell.
Probably not huge, and arguably a little less than during the regular season due to the crowd being made up more of neutrals and corporates, but it has to be there.

Craig McRae recently admitted that there’s an umpiring advantage for Victorian sides at the MCG as well as the whole familiarity/psychological pressure statistically proven to be a significant advantage of playing at a home ground in front of a home crowd

There's an umpiring in the 2017 video on YouTube. Crows were destroyed by the umps.
E.g. Betts clearly held in the goal square just before half time.

Yep, apparently Levi Ashcroft was in the change rooms after the game and he would have been burning up inside, desperate to join his big bro and become a part of this amazing group

You can watch him on YT - he’s every bit as good as Will but more of a crafty goal kicker than…he’s going to hit the AFL like a torpedo next year!

The league has been warned…Ashcroft 2.0 is in the lab and almost ready to be released 😂

Sadly we are probably 50/50 on getting any of Hodge's kids if they end up being any good.

Cooper is 100 percent all-in on the Lions. He’s a die hard.

That was in round 6, the Richmond you played then was not the same one in the finals. We really did lift when it mattered and our success the years after completely proved that, while Adelaide faded away.

It’s better to tell ‘em they would’ve won. Makes the coping more intense.

I do it with Maynard in the 2018 GF. HE WAS BLOCKED!! 🤣

And twin F/S next year isnt it ?
Do you mean Levi Ashcroft? He's father-son eligible for the Lions this year so there will be two Ashcrofts on Brisbane's list next year and they are two years apart in age. Once again, that's not academy related. F/S is luck of the draw and it's Brisbane's turn now like it was Collingwood's a few years ago with the Daicos boys and Darcy Moore.

My club may be shit, but they didn’t shit their pants on grand final day 2017 and I don’t recall them being taken over by a new age medicine cult… so don’t think I’m projecting.

What were the players injected with? Vitamin B?

Perhaps it wasn't a most improved award but rather a recognition of the difficulty level required to get this team back up after last year's disappointment and this years injuries as well as the adaptability shown from integrating all those young ones while actually improving the team.

Haha I remember that vid!
Oh the angst that caused Crows supporters.
Supremely edited and still talked about 7 years later!

And the bleating from SA media that the flag playoff should be best of three games!

I’m not sure your team thought that they were up against it though. They booked a seat for the premiership cup on the plane home.
The upside on that though was that tex didn’t have to fight anyone for the arm rest travelling back to Adelaide.
