Even worse??? WOW!

I'm excited!

You are aware that the urine strip was axed a year ago right?

And as bad as I find the yet to be announced jumper, its not as bad as the piss strip.

And Neville, you aren't the first to slap the new logo onto our old jumper, and you aren't the first to be told that the new jumper involves more than just that.

That jumper looked like it had come out of the Ken Done gallery, but, at least it did have the original Lion logo/symbol on it, and at any rate, it was in response to the AFL's directive that all clubs had to have an away strip.

And Neville, you aren't the first to slap the new logo onto our old jumper, and you aren't the first to be told that the new jumper involves more than just that.

Now you are just making me expect that it will have the body of the Lion trailing around the side of the jumper, or some sort of Nike-esque maroon swoosh from behind the head.....

Nothing that zany.

If the proper Lion isn't on it I don't give a shit if it glows in the dark & chimes the club song, it must be stopped. Either the supporters of this club are listened to or Bowers ends up giving hummers in the valley after the next AGM.

I happen to know of an email having been sent to KB's show on SEN;)

In that email he was asked if he could go into bat for us and reminded him of the merger agreement and the word "Perpetuity"...He was also told that we the supporters are very upset, and if he was to read BF, he would get an idea of the backlash to this idea.

As I can't usually listen to his show, could anyone who does, please respond by ringing, txting or email to anything he may say or do.......(if anything, can only try!)

I can't be physically involved with footy these days due to hubby not being too fit, but I can still ****stir from home!

I haven't yet really posted on this topic, as i wanted to let it settle for a few days. While i dont mind the logo, and dont mind the club changing things, as its part of mordern professional sport, there is no reason why it should be put on the jumper. There is a lot of history, both past and present with old Lion, and there is no reason to change it. That Lion logo should always be displayed on our jumper.

They can use the new logo, print it on shirts and flags and signs, and use it in the media, even put a small version of it on the jumper somewhere, but it should not take the position of the current Lion. I've only followed AFL since about 2002 and the Lions seriously since 2004, and if i can have such a strong feeling about that logo, i can't imagine what most supporters, especially old fitzroy fans are feeling.

Lets hope its only the club logo being changed, and not the jumpers. For the first time in years, we have 2 excellent and proud jumpers that EVERYONE likes to see us in. If they are changed, the person who decided to change it should be gone as they clearly have nfi what is going on with the club or its supporter base. Someone that far out of touch shouldn't be in such a place of power.

Right on the money. Amen.

Mate, I have told you for a while that your bullshitting and attention-seeking crap on here would come back to bite you on the arse. Time to put the cue in the rack on this one and start saving up your money so that you can actually become a member of the club yourself in 2010 and "put your money where you mouth is" before suggesting that those who are pissed off about the logo are being disloyal.

Are you telling me that we've been reading messages of utter bulldust from this character 'SB' on this very important topic (the guernsey component), where he bags those who may not renew their membership if the jumper changes etc etc - and then he's not actually a paid up member of the Club?

Has anyone actually heard from the club that the jumper is going to change?

If not, all these posts are just merely speculation.

I just think some people are giving the impression that the change of the jumper is inevitable and is going to happen.

Perhaps they are. Perhaps they know more than others. Who knows?

All I know is that it was reported by the newspaper that a change would follow. If people feel compelled enough by this to express their desire for it not to change, that's their business. If you want to wait for the club to announce it, that's your prerogative.

However, if you are one of the people that want to retain the current jumper, you'd be best served doing it before an announcement is made. It'll be a lot harder for the club to change their mind after that point.

I'll be listening tomorrow, will post in here if he brings it up.

I was not suggesting that those ideas would be good!

I know Stock, I was just chiming in with my 2c. This issue's got me a little hot under the collar. I guess what I was trying to say is even if, other than the lack of a Lion, the design is aesthetically pleasing, I'll loathe what's done as it's about so much more. I think we all pretty much agree on it. I just need to express it because the outlet of bitch slapping Bowers into some semblance of reason isn't open to me :p

So how/where did you get a sneak peak at the jumper?

I have a feeling if weevs or tbd told us that they'd compromise themselves. Given their records as reliable sources I'll take their word.

Spot on mate. Reminds me of the Roman senate sitting on their hands while Hannibal overtook their empire, waiting until Rome itself was within his grasp to react. By then it was only Hannibal baulking that gave them the time to turn to a leader that turned Hannibals tactics back on him.

The quote from Bowers logo statement below needs to be read more closely by those that can't consider the likelihood, especially given Brown was quoted as saying "Parents, open your wallets for new jumpers next year". And I urge those people, please, if you have any kind of corporate bullshit filter, turn it on..

The Brisbane Lions AFC prides itself on its Mission Statement of being the most respected and innovative sporting club in Australia. Having a dated and complex logo that has been historically difficult to reproduce - especially on clothing fabrics, wood and metal - no longer fits with the fearless, determined and fresh outlook of our Club that is constantly looking to improve and evolve forward.

We are acutely aware that graphic design is a very personal and emotional 'headspace' where members will have widely varying opinions based on their own private tastes and their emotive connection to the logo after our recent history.

But that is the past
, and we firmly believe the new logo reflects the new pride and spirit that has swept through the Club with Voss, Brown and the fresh generation of players looking for premiership success in their own right.

First bolded section = Piss weak excuse for changing the jumper.. Because it'll be easier to print.. Give me a ****ing break

Second bolded section = Screw your individual love. You're just one person and our statement of this should make you feel small for disagreeing with the club. We set the mood for the supporter base, not you (even though you're part of it). We hope the masses will swallow this and similarly marginalise you. At the end of the day, all that you have invested in this jumper we don't give a shit about. We can't think of other ways to generate cash flow so accept this or get knotted.

Suck my balls Mr Bowers.

Just wonder if the people consulted about the new logo, were the same people consulted about the urine stained jumper ?

Did people power evoke a response on the Lions management to veto that jumper ?

If so, history may need to repeat itself.

Yeah I thought that was bizarre. How is the new logo any easier to print or have emblazoned on wood, metal or imprinted into/on fabric? I can't see how it would make much of a difference in this day and age.

For me its simple. Send a vote card to all members and ask new jumper or old one.

If any new jumper is so needed and good as aperantly Bowers believes then his vote should get up;)

Dated, complicated, difficult to reproduce on fabric/metal - sounds like he's talking about the actual Brisbane Lions logo itself, rather than the monogrammed lion on the jumper.

Having worked in printing & with commercial sewing machines I can tell you with confidence, it's a crock of shit. I immediately thought the Lion itself because of the lines on it, it requires the most work (which is all automated) as far as start/stop points in stitching the Lion onto material. The difference isn't worth mentioning though, so the fact that he has raised an eyebrow immediately.

Nup. Bowers is clearly smarter than us "outdated" thinkers stuck in the past.

Perhaps we can use Eddie McGuire for the forces of good in this one. If anyone knows how to stand up for a jumper and not changing it its the Collingwood President himself:cool:.

I am happy to turn to ANYONE to save our jumper.

The howls & protests over the urine stained strip will pale into insignifigance, if the club changes our jumper logo.

We'll be the laughing stock of the AFL. Imagine Fevola's dismay in wearing a jumper with the Paddle Pop Lion, after donning the navy blue for the past 11 years.

Maybe that's why Bradshaw left us. He must have got a sneak preview of the new jumper.

Gee this is going to get real ugly. Just when the club has established a strong brand & a good membership base, this has the potential to erode all of that.
