Lions = Over-rated

There are very few things certain in life ,death, taxes and 'Sausages' bumping he's shallow thread after every lions loss.

While every lions supporter are devastated in the demise of their season, the first thing that pops into your head is to defend some irrelevant thread and argument that you made months ago.

Naturally every side's supporters have the odd nuff nuff that proclaims after are early season victory that they are serious contenders. But have their really been so many that you feel it necessary continue to bump this amazing 'prediction' when your fellow supporters are obviously bleeding?

Point me to the lions consensus that throughout the season how provided you with such opposition to your argument that you continue to grind your axe so many weeks after your OP.

Point me to the lions consensus that have argued anything other than that the lions are a middle of the road side that are very capable on their day yet capable of rubbish the following week.

Unfortunately your attempts at a 'honest' and 'realist' attitude regarding your team wreaks of troll. As much as Iv'e tried to ignore your bumping of this thread throughout the season, my gut tells me that their is something fishy regarding your allegiances.

If I'm incorrect in my mudslinging I apologise for the accusation, however even if Im wrong, have some bloody passion for your team

Great Post. To borrow a BrownDog phrase, Melbourne Lion for Earth President!

Not over-rated - just unfortunately struck down with injuries. Same happened to Richmond last year..

To be honest, I dont think we can blame injuries too much.

Black, Brown, Power and Adcock have been playing wounded, but the major injury striking the team seems to be lack of ticker.

To miss the finals after being 8-5 is pretty worrying.

That's putting it lightly.

They have to bite the bullet i reckon on a few players. Sherman for one, they guy is insipid, god knows why Brisbane fans keep defending him.

I just can't accept that his 2006 season was a fluke... still convinced that his current problems are mental more than anything.

Deserves another year, but must deliver or he's gawn.

Others are in bigger danger... I love Robbie Copeland but he's done his dash I'm afraid.

Ash McGrath is another guy I have an irrational love for... but he's struggling.

Very hard to stay at the top on the socialised AFL. We need a gun midfielder with our first pick this year, that much is clear.

Why? IIRC every time there was a thread before the season on midfields you'd jump in place Brisbane in the top 5 :D

How's some of them young brigade coming along like Adcock, Rischitelli and Stiller? You said Adcock was better than Stevens didn't you? ;)

Adcock has been playing injured all year. Needs a break then a solid pre-season. Future captain.

Rischitelli is a star... no question at all.

Stiller has gone backwards... Dalziell has cantered into his spot.

i think you'll find in general it wasnt Lions supporters talking us up, most threads from june/july on the Lions board were apprehensive about the hype for fear of what would happen if the players started to believe it.

And i've missed 3-4 home games in about 10 years so labelling me a bandwagoner doesnt really work...

So first you say my prediction was outrageous but now you say that it was only the Lions supporters talking your team up. Nice way to dig yourself a hole champ. :thumbsu:

P.S - I didn't label you a bandwagoner. I labelled all of the people who jumped on Briosbanes and said they were certainties to make the finals as bandwagoners. Were you one of them???????

Well pwned!! :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Err no he isn't.

That's like your opinion... man.

Lets not get into a whole semantics over conceptions of the word star.

The poster I was responding too while trying to imply that our young mids are no good, and Rischa is becoming a very good player.

We have 6 players that get a game every week that wouldn't get a game with any other AFL team. Leigh Matthews chops and changes these 6 very frequently, with little success. The only option is to slash them from the list, but then only youngsters will be around to fill the void. Look for a bottom 2-3 finish in 2009 for the Lions.

To have TWO players on 70plus goals and not play in finals is ... how did that happen ?

Skill level not up to playing 'tempo football' - aka keepings off - but rebound speed not good enough for shoot out game - so all duck and no dinner.

I haven't been to the Gabba as often this year, probably about 8 games from memory - but these are the blokes that need to go for sure.

Copeland
MacGrath
Harding
Mills
Moody
Stiller

Thin ice:

Selwood
Sherman
Corrie

Save from trade bait with late season form:

Charman
Hooper

Nearing the end:

Notting

Another issue for the Lions is that players get sent back to the ressies and its hard to find form in that league if you're dropped at the wrong time, as only half the sides in the state league are competitive.
