What's staring us in the face are the number of successful premiership players plus others who are coming out of contract in the next year or two.

I'd say what I'd be doing but don't want to offend any players . A few of them are going to get better offers than we put on the table.

No doubt. There's always the Aaron Shattocks and Blake Caracellas of the world.

How certain are we that Port has (nominally) pick 16 and Geelong has pick 15?

I'd have thought that after their Qualifying Final result, the two teams would have switched ranks and thus Geelong should have pick 16 and Port pick 15.

Possibly a question for Lore?

It's also the draft order as per the AFL website too.

The way the finals results influence the finishing positions for the draft order is a little bit complicated to figure out, but basically the two teams that drop out after the elimination final take 7th and 8th place, with 7th being the one who finished higher at the end of the H&A season and 8th being lower. So if 5th and 7th are knocked out then the 5th placed team finishes 7th and the 7th placed team becomes 8th, but if it's 7th and 8th that get knocked out, then the 7th place team retains 7th and 8th stays 8th.

Then 5th and 6th are the two teams that drop out after the semis, in order of who finished higher at the end of the H&A season, rinse and repeat with prelims and the GF until all teams are allocated.

Joe says goodbye and thanks for all the fish...
May I post in your forum?

Great man Joe Danihar, awkward and gangly and made those blues from time to time but he fought like hell for his side, and all football, not a nasty bone in his body.

Very happy to see him retire in triumph.
