Hmmm it does look like Conliglio is in that bunch, I was a bit worried about him not wanting to sign on but very happy if he does.

The length of contracts also interests me.

I think that the two greys are Cogs and Cameron, the two blues are Giles and Green, have no idea on the oranges though, hoping my eyes are telling me one is Townsend.

Would you guys look to trade your second round picks for a mature player? Not a 30 year old , but I was imagining someone like Richard Douglas for the two second round picks.

Kristof,

Absolutely. Id be looking at our Adelaide compo pick (20) being in play for that as well, depending on the player.

The key is that they need to come to GWS, and that could be tricky if they look at all the kids coming through and think "I'll be in the first 22 for 2 years, max".

On the convers side of that argument is that last year we had trouble getting players - who would want to go to western Sydney? But now we can go out there and say - come and play alongside Toby Greene and Jeremy Cameron, everyone is saying that they would love to have an Adam Treloar or a Jacob Townsend in their side - well now you can have him in yours, all you gotta do is come play with him, and cogs and all the others. With the players we have, our recruiting of free agents just got easier.

Accuse me of always seeing the hole in the donut if you want, but lets assume you're a good, ordinary 50 game player - 24 or so, not a superstar of the competition, but getting games at your current club - you know, like the sort of players we want, so the team doesnt run out of legs halfway through the season, and so we dont stuff our salary cap.

Coming to GWS, you've got a horde of not quite ready 18 and 19 year olds looking at your list spot ... the odds are pretty high that come the second year of your deal, you'll be relegated to spot duty as Cooyou/Phillips/whoever gets that bit more endurance and muscle.

GWS then needs to start reducing it's list.

Not looking like a good career move is it, as opposed to signing on with a Port Adelaide or a Melbourne - teams that also need regular starters, but dont have the same number of frighteningly talented young kids.

I would like to think that if we bring in experienced players they won't be players that have a low level of develop but rather players that will develop further once they are given an opportunity, as has been seen with the likes of Kennedy, Mcglynn and Mumford after the Swans picked them up.
Or they will be talented players who want to play for us because they can see the upside of our club which includes a very good chance to win a flag in 4-5 years, and a club that has a fantastic home ground and a club that will soon have state of the art training facilities completed.

But that said there is no doubting that we have a huge few months coming up for us and if we don't get this right we will do it very tough to meet the target of 5 wins in 2013. So needless to say interesting times ahead especially when it comes to tall defenders as all year long we have said we want 2 experienced defenders 190cm+

Bit stiff on Clifton who was really in the 22 in pre-season. Very unlucky with injuries. Of course our talented kids eventually won out.

Good to get another year out of Cornes. I can't see Brogan playing another season (I hope he doesn't). Power could go either way.

Gutted for Cliffo, those injuries early in the year really screwed him out of what should have been a pretty decent AFL career. :( I always thought he was the perfect foil for the youngsters - a slightly more mature, slightly harder body that could step up when the young ones started to flag mid season, but mid season he was behind the eight ball coming off a couple of injuries himself, and never really got going. With our extended list I thought he was worth one more year, but that's football I suppose. He's a Liston medal winner so he'll probably go back to the VFL and win another one. Good luck to him, wherever he lands.

To be honest Cliffton did have injuries but never showed enough and was always the most likely to get cut.
The fact that theres still a chance Brogan will play on would suggest that were still on the look out for that experience ruck we have been chasing all year or the rumours could be true that the pies are chasing Giles.

Buts its great to see Cornes go on and i'm sure McDonald will do a great job as ft coach with us.

So with McDonald and Giles no longer on our main list that gives us 8 spots we can fill.

Good to see The Chad playing on, he would still be playing for Port if we had picked players based on form

boys , would like ur thoughts on Josh Bruce ... How would his year be viewed ? Is he surplus with the ammount of good talls on your list ?Cheers Dasher.

At the end of this year? We're short on good tall defenders so they'll probably hold on to him to see how he goes. May be in the firing line at the end of next year, if he can't bed down a spot in the best 22 (and I have a feeling he may be unlucky there).
