looks as expected that we will use our no1 draft pick for Whitfield. but seems the Suns will bid on Viney.
With the Mini draft the doggies are front runners for Martin but we want both there 2 first rd picks for him (pick 5&6) they have said no. So maybe pick 5 and a player might get the deal done. Melb it seems is keen on Hogan.

The journalist doesnt understand the order things happen in.

Father son bids first, then Melbourne match by taking Viney with 3, and then we do the minidraft and other deals, and then we do the draft.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out...

Despite the club reportedly looking for an upgrade in the ruck, Giles was great for us this year as demonstrated in his 5th placing in the B&F (and 3rd in our BF MVP just quietly). I'm kind of skeptical in what might have to be given up in addition to Giles to get an 'upgrade' in return.

Would we be better off playing nice with Giles and then trying to add Grundy in the draft through the mini-draft trades?

Looks like the Crows are keen on Giles and trade for a defender could be on the cards - if that happens wouldn't mind Otten

AS uncertainty continues on the future of Crows ruckman-forward Kurt Tippett, Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson is prepared to endorse Greater Western Sydney ruckman Jon Giles as a replacement. "I rate him,'' said Sanderson of the former Port Adelaide-listed ruckman who is not happy with the salary offered in his latest contract offer from the Giants.

The Giants' asking price in a trade for Giles would be a key defender - a luxury for the Crows.

What would GWS want for Giles in terms of trade value?

Is he worth a top 10 pick? first rounder? 2nd rounder?
If they put Giles on the table it'll probably be to grab a player in position of need, most likely a medium-tall defender.

Reason being, we've got the #1 pick and a compo pick tied to Adelaide (around #20-21) plus will probably grab another pair of high picks with the mini-draft trades. With those 4 first rounders and our second rounder being #24 (I think), that's five picks in the top 24. It'll take a very good pick to make it worth their while trading Giles for a pick(s) rather than a player.

That's one that makes a bit of sense to me. The club has said we need defenders. If we can't get a good young one, we could get a cheap adequate old one to fill in the gap for a couple of years.

Hey guys,

Wasn't sure where to put this exactly (still kinda new around here), but I was hoping to get someone's thoughts on Sam Darley and his likelihood of making the best 22 net year?

Unlikely. Why do you ask?

Main reason I'm asking is because I'm part of a unique fantasy competition over at FanFooty, and I was just interested in gauging his potential and worth. :)

Obviously not a great deal by the sound of it.

Yeah I wouldn't say he's likely to be best 22, more likely to be around that 10 game mark again.

'On The Couch" reported a disgruntled Top 10 draftee will seek a return to Victoria, in particularly Richmond. Can't help but feel we cross-examined Choco for details on those who were unsettled.

The player in question is Dom Tyson, what would you be wanting?

If true, I'd expect it to play out like Caddy. We'd expect a pick at least as good as we used on him, probably won't get it, so hold on to him for another year to try and convince him to stay.

It's exactly like the Caddy situation for sure.

Gun young player injured for most of the year and misses out on all the firsts. Doesn't feel as connected to the club as the other draftees. Could be a long year of speculation if he doesn't sign. :(

That said, Tyson was a pick #3. GWS should fight hard to get something of good quality.

GC asked for a top 5 player for a pick 7
GWS should ask for a top 3 player (Cotch, Lids or Martin?) for a pick 5

It's only fair.

Sounds good. :D

Maybe we should send him to the Coast in exchange for Caddy.

With Power calling it a day we now have up to 9 spots to fill.

On Tyson he is actually on holidays with a couple of the Giant boys all of whom have re-signed so not sounding like a guy who feels like an outsider.
While i'm sure the tigers have sounded him out just as the bombers did to treloar who re-signed with us until 2015. But there is a big difference between being sounded out and leaving.

They also said on 'On The Couch' that the GIANTS would be coming after Cotchin or Delidio in response. Only fair for a #3 draft pick. :)
