Most likely he wouldn't but it would put a lot of pressure on your cap to try and keep him, that would other wise not be there. Mind you there are very few players that would say no to over mil a year.

thats true but it's more than likely we will frontload cotchin's next contract, but i strongly believe that cotchin is in that minority that isn't money hungry but thats just my opinion.

While I can see the point in them chasing Cotchin, and while he's a brownlow favourite and a superstar, there is other positions they would be better off chasing. Plenty of midfielders in there and if they go after guys like Cotchin then these kids aren't going to want be around if they aren't playing. Wouldn't a ruckmen or key back be a better option? Not saying chase Ivan or Rance either but yeah haha

Yeah I agree, in real life Sheeds and co. have said we're looking at the backline. The ruck dept. will depend on how they choose to play it with Giles and whether they look for Grundy with an early pick when trading the mini-draft picks.

For the benefit of some headlines the Bank of GWS is making out cheques to Cotchin.

Sounds like Sheedy gamesmanship. You threaten to poach our players...lookout, just remember we can poach your players. Probably not much in it either way.

all very quiet on the new signings front. hopefully 1 or 2 big names next week.
if giles does go should chase griffen from the dockers.
hope we target some mid twenty year olds with our mini draft picks.

Hey guys, rumours are that the dogs are mulling over a deal of picks 5 and 6 for MD 1 and 2. There's a sentiment on the dogs board though suggesting we might want a little bit of change, what do you guys think? 5 and 6 for md 1 and 2, or should there be change? if so, what change do you think would be fair?

I think there's other clubs that'd throw their first round pick with no caveats, so if that is the case it might tough getting change out of the deal, especially if the Doggies' second pick is only one or two above the other offers for MD2.

Seems reasonable as is I would have thought. Though I would be annoyed as a dogs supporter as I think they need help ASAP, not in one or two years as a mini pick would be.

I'd be willing to toss a third-rounder in on that deal, or the last of the zone picks so you could roll the dice on Lee.

From the point of view of the Dogs, it's gutsy - but it's about if they like Hogan and Martin more than who is going to be there at #5 and #6.

Throwing in Lee seems silly, given we could prospectively get a (very) late first rounder or an early second rounder for him on his own.

Dlanod,

If there's several clubs who want him, his rights might be worth that (or GWS may even want to keep him as a third forward).

But three picks in the top six is pretty darn tasty, and so I wouldnt be unhappy if we did it.

The only reason that the we gave change to the Suns and Crows last year was that we wanted the compensation picks as well so if there is no compensation picks in the deal then it would be Dogs pick 5 & 6 for mini draft selection 1 & 2 only. But the Dogs are far from a lock to get both mini draft selections.

That's my expectation. If the Dogs do want both, they're probably in the box seat as the only teams with value that could potentially be considered worth more are Gold Coast's pick 2 (unlikely to be used), Melbourne's pick 4 (pick 3 will end up being used for Viney, IMO) and Geelong if they want to package their first round pick plus their remaining compensation pick.

And more likely then not we would look at trading Lee and our Adelaide compensation pick for a pick between 10 -15

I can't see us trading on any compensation picks, I think we are stockpiling them for future drafts when the concessions are gone (so we continue to get value out of these past two years).

I'd prefer to keep the compo pick and spend a list spot on Lee.

Of our State League players, Giles topped our Brownlow votes, Mohr was serviceable and only Clifton couldnt break into the team. We had real problems kicking goals last year. Lee's been kicking goals in the WAFL after bouncing out of the AFL the first time around.

I'd roll the dice on Lee ourselves.

Our compo pick from Adelaide has already been activated for this year, so we can't keep it any more. It's pick 19-ish, pending free agent compensation picks. CMC is talking about using Lee to upgrade that to a pick in the 10-15 range or thereabouts.

Wouldn't be against us holding on to Lee but of course we can only add so many players and even through at this stage we have up to 9 spots left they quickly fill up after we pick up 4 players in the draft, zone selection Anderson and 4 experienced players. So just not sure we have room for Lee.
If we are to pick up state league players I think that is more likely to happen with the rookie draft as we have up to 6 more spots to fill if we choose.

Hi guys, all this talk on Lee, have you actually said you will pre-list him yet or is it all speculation?
