We may get Gold Coast involved.

Dan to Carlton
Jack and Gold Coast 2024 3rd to Port
Carlton 2025 1st and Port 2025 2nd to Gold Coast

So Dan for Luko and a small (and late) pick upgrade.

Carlton get Dan for a likely late first.

Gold Coast get late first and a late pick downgrade for Luko.

So Carlton - the only side without a contracted player involved make out like bandits.

I don’t understand how Carlton could possibly fit him in their salary cap. They have Walsh, Curnow, McKay, Weitering, Williams and Cripps reportedly all on 850k+ (Cripps on 1M this year so this is a generous approximation), then you’d imagine Houston would be on around 750k as well.

That would be 7/46 on their list taking approx $5.85M. The total salary cap is $15.8M currently. So 7 players account for 1/3 of their salary cap leaving approx $10M to be spread amongst the other 39 players on the list which is an ave salary of $256K.

This includes the likes of Cerra, TDK, McGovern, Docherty etc who would be above the AFL average wage and you imagine $600k or so.

The average AFL wage is $441K.

These numbers don’t compute… is half their list being paid 250k or less to balance the sheets here? Seems unlikely.

If Houston goes will be multiple clubs involved so we get 2 picks
Saints are interested Battle comp pick 7
Carlton pick is later so we are looking at Saints
Luko can be involved
Interest in Sinn and Williams and Lord
Marshall has had 3 concussions this year suggestions he could go to the USA.
Call on his future could happen very soon

Yeah anyone expecting Richard’s to come in a be a gun would likely be very disappointed.

He’s a very very low disposal getter who happens to be able to kick or goal or 2 occasionally.

Really we’re just hoping for him to be an upgrade on mcintee / narkle / evans, which is a low bar, and he’s not a certainty to clear it, but he’s a chance.

Chad Cornes said that Marshall had been given the all clear by the specialist for return to play.

What is said in public and what happens behind closed doors are two different things, but seems like retirement is not being discussed at the moment.

Interest in Williams. I’d suggest we will be trading him then as he’s in contract.

Yeah. I have liked him as depth but I think we couldn’t play him when we were playing those 3 key defenders, and even now we’ve moved rat out I think he’s up against it still even next year.

Especially if we bring in perryman , who may play halfback or wing , and Louie Montgomery, who I’m certain we will look to develop as a halfback in the Maggie’s. Rome will also likely be looked at as a running halfback / maybe wing.

Don’t think he has any trade value, would be a 4th rounder, or upgrading our 4th rounder by a cpl of places. Or just free to a good home if not. The same as Richard’s should cost us really.

I do think he’s not quite at the calling it quits stage yet, but yeah, I imagine there’s a watch on it.

Houston has to want to go to saints, and don’t see that happening at all, why would he.

Interest in sinn, Williams and lord.

We need to keep sinn, unless the trade is a similar player coming back ie, phillipou / day / nwm / pickett (and most of those are not remotely likely to be let go by their clubs)

Williams we should move, not that we should lose him, he’s alright depth but we’ve got some halfbacks coming in and need list spots, if we can get anything remotely useful for him let him go.

Lord, very much keep unless we get well overs for him. Even if we don’t rate him as a first choice kf, even bog average kfs are hard to find and useful on the list. Again, only let him go for a promising young player , maybe a good enough draft pick.

Go so damn hard at Pickett. Just make it happen.

I don’t think it will happen. By all accounts he’s a quite sort of guy off field so isn’t going to be the type to push for the move hard even if he would like to.

And his manager is not a manager that knows how to move a player so is more than likely going to keep pushing him to stay.

He has done pretty well. Buckley and co also made mention of him at ht

Remember. You were given an opportunity to turn things around. All you needed to do was write 800 words.

This is what you did instead

Pity , Kozzie would be amazing for us , heard he wanted to come before he signed last time but must’ve got pressure to stay or our offer wasn’t better than theirs .
I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what was brewing with the Houston to Melbourne thing .
Now that Dans not a fan of Melbourne apparently that’s put a spanner in .
He’s coming into his prime soon and if we could get him it would really add to our stocks

Just watching all these replays and not only is he probably not going to be playing for the first 3 rounds next year but he also needs to look at his “body composition” I sit around all week and drink beer and I have less of an roll hanging over my shorts
