A lot might depend on how Mitchell wants to set up. We don’t necessarily need a ton of key forwards. Especially if we play a faster, rebound gamestyle.Gunston and Big Boy would be big losses in the forward half if true.
Bit of a worry how it might impact Lewis' development if he's the only real aerial threat.
With that said, it probably just highlights a huge area of concern that needed to be addressed on the road to contention at some point.
What would our current tall fwd stocks look like?
Lewis - elite talent
Kosi - I'm a fan, but even so it's a low ceiling for me. Bit of a McStay.
Jeka - who knows if he's ever viewed as a forward anymore
Kind of feel if Gunston leaves, Grundy might actually be more of a solution so he and Reeves can spend time forward.
Outside that, I wouldn't be against finding a solid tall with 100 games experience for depth. How did Sam Day play in the VFL this year?
Would Weiderman be worth a flier given our lack of depth?
Could we find the Casboult of 2023 to plug a gap for a year or two and take pressure off Lewis?
Have it on relatively good authority (mate is connected to the family) that Gunstan to Brisbane on a 2 year contract is pretty much done but waiting for finals to play out.
When I had break ups I usually just started going out more with friends.re: Gunston. Moving to Brisbane could be good for personal life. Came out of long term relationship in the last year
Nah, our priority is still a top end mid.Surely we take Cadman now.
and being closer to a flag....On paper Gunston to Brisbane doesn’t really make sense… he’d be accepting a lesser deal ($) than whatever Hawthorn can offer, and the common ‘career extension’ offer that our previous greats were afforded doesn’t really apply to Jack because he’s still playing at a very high level.
Perhaps it’s simply a lifestyle change for his final years before entering retirement.

Weideman hasn't once taken the chances he's been given by Melbourne, and Melbourne looks worse as a side when he's playing, so I believe we are better off not considering him. Amartey is a fantastic player who would add some much-needed athleticism to our forward line, as he showed when he and Sydney destroyed Box-Hill last week in the VFL. As for the draft, we should be drafting Jerome Lawrence as a father-son, so that's at least one key forward we should be adding to our roster and depth charts. Luke McCabe's son is eligible as a father-son in the 2023 draft, and he is showing promising signs at the underage level, so he's a player we'll be considering next year. In the present, the midfield is our greatest concern heading into the trade and draft periods, so I doubt we select Cadman. There is a chance we take Lemmey or Keeler with our second-round selection, but hey, that's just a theory, a football theory!Gunston and Big Boy would be big losses in the forward half if true.

I've always liked what i've seen of Mcstay but wouldnt be against giving Kozi a make or break run of games next seasonCan I ask why?
Statistically i would argue Kosi isn’t far off him now.
If Gunston is going this is Kosi’s opportunity.

You've missed the most obvious one - much much closer to a flag.
Yeah, I'm not so sure.
I think the Lions have now missed their premiership window. Their current squad has fallen over under pressure consistently in big games over the last 4 years. Ashcroft will help but some deep seeded issues (no heart) with many players on that list.Yeah, I'm not so sure.
You have to be kidding? It's literally true. One team has made Finals years in a row, whilst the other hasn't.
Do you think we will finish above them, or even make Finals next season? Brisbane have no old players on the way out bar Zorko. They will be competitive for a few years to come. We dream of being in their position.
They are better than us right now but no closer to a flag. List management is about identifying players that wilt under intense pressure and the Lions have far too many of those. You have to be kidding? It's literally true. One team has made Finals years in a row, whilst the other hasn't.

Port were closer to a flag than Collingwood last year. Good luck predicting the future. You've missed the most obvious one - much much closer to a flag. He can play out his career competing for a flag or struggling through a rebuild.
As long as Jack Gunston remains at the Hawks I’m happy.Have it on relatively good authority (mate is connected to the family) that Gunstan to Brisbane on a 2 year contract is pretty much done but waiting for finals to play out.

The McStay compo pick will be substantial. As stupid as it is, Gunston’s value on the open market is far less than what that pick will be. It makes perfect sense for the Lions to trade with us.They will have to trade unless they want to lose their McStay compo.
