Rippon hasnt been on an AFL list in the last 2 years so we would need to get AFL approval to sign him wouldnt we?
The nonsense of fans saying Essendon shouldn't need tops up when they have VFL players and rookies.
Can confirm that Ballard has been signed on the tigers VFL list now for over a month, I think that essendon can still sign him but must not be interested

Essendon VFL players aren't on the senior or rookie lists of the AFL club so they're not eligible to play. They have to be signed through the formal top-up process, same as any other unlisted player. So yes, it is absolute nonsense. As with most things on the HTB and some rabid threads elsewhere around the place, its more about being on the merry-go-round than knowing which way is up. There is no logic there - just a curious mix of self-pity, a desire for vengeance and a sense of entitlement.

I hope he does as he is the type of player we were crying out for last year, We have taken both Moore & Townsend to fill this void but i would have liked to see Ballard on the Rookie list also , But atleast we get a good look at him during training and playing Vfl to make an informed decision next year
