Lloyd Reported

Matthew Lloyd has been reported for 'rough play' in last nights game against Carlton.

They showed footage of the incident on Fox Sport news.

Lloyd has lightly bumped a Carlton player half a second late after a handball.

What a joke! It doesn't even warrant a free kick let alone a report.

The person making the report should be sacked for wasting everone's time.

Is this the one in which the umpires thought Mercuri was the guy who did it?
I saw the 'incident' on the news and I agree with CJH it was just a bump, nothing more.

If we are talking about the same incident and I believe we are, Lloyd probably went for a late hip and shoulder on Mansfield but made contact with Mansfield's head with his elbow slightly out from his body. Mansfield was knocked silly.

Now as far as I know, accidental or otherwise, careless is still careless and does not excuse a penalty. The commentators at the time thought it was accidental but serious. You could equate the elevated elbow to the Lions' Jonathan Brown's effort on Fabian Francis in the Ansett Cup final, which he finally got off after appealing the original suspension. The only difference is, there were not two players attacking the ball from opposite directions at full pace and the change of direction factor that happened. Mansfield was basically a stationery linkman in the play and Lloyd went for him quite deliberately to make his presence felt.

I will go back and look at the incident again but they showed the replay a few times and it certainly did NOT look like nothing. Mind you we are talking about Matthew 'butter wouldn't melt in his mouth' Lloyd. If he gets off, the tribunal would have set a precedent that others will be making sure they stick to.

I don't know if what Foxtel showed was the incident or just the only bit of Matthew Lloyd footage they were given?

The bit they did show was certainly nothing!

Well the roos fans will no doubt disagree as Lloydy has some hidden agenda to be a tough man apparently.

well compare to Lloyd's usual style of playing it was pretty rough... LOL
nah there really isn't anything in it and the umpires should learn to write down the right player... i mean come on its Lloyd!

Second careless accident in three weeks... what a joke... I hope the tribunal gives him a week... maybe then he will pull his head in and start playing football... not running around trying to be some tough guy... which he has proven twice this year... he isn't...
