Running into an open goal and kicking on the full, not making the distance from 35 and kicking to opposition defenders when Roo was 5 meters in front on a charging lead.

when he shook hands with ross lyon after the saints won the grand final in 2010 against the pies. ball won a hard contested ball after the 102nd boundary throw in but could not kick over the pack and milne kicked it off the ground, from the boundary at 50m for his only touch of the day for a goal that was blatantly touched as it went through - the saints go ahead by a point as the siren sounds.

the umpires also missed a series of free kicks to the pies leading up to the goal that would definately have won them the match. subsequently all pies supporters were banned from Big Footy for life. eddie maguire is never seen again. goose returns to the saints the next year as we win back to back.

oh, if only that can come true (nothing against ball of course but if we could beat the pies by a point well..... :))

Tempted to say screw beating them by a point and woo mass banning them from ever appearing in public again!

But then the ban just extended to BF, so yeah, GF win woo!

There was one game aganst North Melbourne (then the Kangaroos) in '04 upon which Ball got the sweeping handball and sold some candy to the north player who ended up stumbling to a faceplant before kicking about 55m to the G-train with Hammil crumbing. Not a bump on Ball at that stage.

When he said: "if I can be dropped, then anyone can". I thought his comment provided some insight on how conceited the little **** really is.

Goodbye Luke. I will really miss your dinky little kicks 25 meters out in front of goal that fail to make the goal square.

Bye bye...........:)

best luke ball memory= quitting the saints going into draft

worst luke ball memory= richmond having no interest, i want him at punt rd.

Oy ********, it is the way he left us that matters.

It is like saying, "it was a great marriage until she ran of with my house and my nemisis".

Now f off to your scap land.

Football is alot diffrent to marriage
LOL the way he left you, he wanted game time and you weren't giving him any. You didn't trade him to Collingwood when he requested to go there. It's not his fault now give him the respect he deserves.

He stuck by the saints until yous wouldn't play him. He decided a move away from Saints would be better for him. So jeez, give him some respect for what a good player he is.

I will always have the image of Luke Ball, wrapped up in bandages with blood pouring out of his nose, laying tackles left right and centre at the dome.

I will always remember Luke as a man of courage and determination who was cut down by injury. I will always think of the good times. The hits he took serving our club.

I will always remember that we was the first one to cry when the siren went on GF day.

BUT I will always wonder if he cried because the Saints lost or because they lost while he was on the bench?

It's obvious that Ball has a high opinion of himself but why shouldn't he? He was the number 2 pick in a "super draft". He is always compared to Hodge n Judd both of whom were integral in gettting their clubs to the premiership.

Ball had been reduced to a bit player. It's a massive ego hit for a kid who had everything just a couple years ago.

I am hurt that he felt like he deserved to be given better rather than trying to earn it but I understand how frustrating it must be for him. So many players have come into the team and gone past him. It's like if the new guy at work got a promotion before you. You have been there longer, given more but he is just better than you. It would hurt.

I wish Luke all the best in his career. If he wins a flag one day I wouldn't begrudge him at all. He could still be the champion we had all hoped he would be. The fire is obviously still there he just feels too controlled by Lyon.

He wasn't part of our best 22 but he couldv'e been. Milne, Dal, Kosi and Gram all bit the bullet and did the hard work to get back. Only 6 weeks or so before the GF Gram wasn't even in the team. He nearly won the Norm Smith.

Ball can be elite if everything goes right. I hope to see him at that level again. It hurts that it wont be for us but I wont boo him regardless of who he is drafted by.

Vale St. Luke... I for one will miss you :(

 stupid post - some of the negative posts against him are not very appopriate, but reasonably understandable given his attitude lately, especially on this, the St Kilda board.

Also, would you consider first talking a player (with a new three year contract offer) into nominating them as his preferred destination and then not walk the talk during trade week as giving him the respect he deserves ?

:thumbsu: now that is a very good post - and respectful, too !

geez these collingwood people. lots of good players get dropped, they learn from it and get better. he left, and obviously we will have many good memories of him, but we will remmeber him from the fact that he left us.

he played nearly every game of the season bar few when he got dropped for poor form...we should have developed armitage who showed more in his two games then luke done throughout the season...there is no more sentiment from this club which imo is good..you either play because you deserve to be out there or watch from the stand ala maxxy..i will never respect players that walk out and leave their clubs in the manner that he has done...good riddance

Actually that's a decent case in point re Max. Conversations being what they are (fickle things) he was to have retired at the end of last year instead of this year but was asked to play on, had an injury in the pre season and was usurped by the Cougar who impressed many people. At any time during the year he could have just called it quits, thank your mother for the rabbits and off he went into the sunset, yet he stayed on even when noticeably irritated/pissed off and saw off the season pushing for selection at the final hurdle despite only playing 7 games for the year.

Sentimentality being what it is, most everyone would claim that on the sentiment and service to the club card Max would have gotten in before Ball even got a sniff, so the argument of more game time is diminished. The same could also be said of the Goose in the latter half of the year. Ball had been given every chance since he had contracted OP and yet managed to play 20 of 25 games for the season while Goose played 0 and Max played 7 despite both being either injury prone or coming back from injuries which had limited them.

Don't see much hoo hah about either of them in a negative sense about douchebaggery from supporters or people still discussing the Ball issue?
