Luke Ball already happenedThe player doesn't get to decide that.
And there is no such thing as player walking, that won't be happening in afl anytime soon
LDU will stay at North and North will pay him $1.5 mil

We apparently do have significant cap space right now. By FA next year we’ll likely see 2-3 of Pendles/Sidey/Howe retire as well. You need cap to trade for players like LDU mate, collingwood doesn't have the cap, none of the top 6 clubs have.
We got all the leverage.
Essendon have more than enough cap space...been front ending the big deals and with the expanded total player payments under the new collective bargaining agreement next year puts them in a good spotIf he is to move...
There are problem only 5 clubs that can afford him.
He is not moving interstate, so that's down to 9 clubs.
If he wants to go to a team in the window, syd is interstate and don't have the cap.
Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood in the top 6 but none of them has the cap.
He's not going to melb, geelong as they are midtable for the foreseeable future.
Saints and hawthorn are the most likely because they got the cap and desperate enough to want such a huge name, particularly saints as they gave 2 x firsts for hannebury...
At then end of the day, we will make a killing if he is to leave and prob will use his captial to get a genuine chf.
I think we would match regardless because by match we can get more than one top picks plus facilitate another trading of a player. E.g. with saints, we match, they give us their first plus future first, i.e. 2 x top 5 picks. Then we may request Josh battle to come as a free agent.

Any club is capable of matching a free agent bid, they only need to be able to equal the total guaranteed dollars and the length of years. With the entire salary cap open for most clubs 6+ years out then they can plonk heaps of the money there and meet the qualification, matched - onto a trade they go.
He can do that.
But only to the draft. If no club lodges the form 41 (I think it is) then he can walk via the PSD to the lowest ranked team if that's the one that wants him.
Hmmm, and that could me...us again
But in any case, from memory only 2 ever did that, one was nick something from port to carlton back in 2002 and another was something martin to carlton in 2021???
It should be noted that there hasn't been a player taken in the PSD who didn't agree to terms with the club that took him prior for well over a decade.
Even John McCarthy agreed to terms with Port before they "poached" him that way. One of the saddest things about his death was how the city just didn't seem to even notice it. I stood right at the spot for a good five minutes and it was like the mess of the town swept over.
Anyway, it should also be noted that the only restricted free agent matching so far has been from a club that had already lost a free agent for almost a million a year (clearing lots of space) and the next free agent was going to a club with a lot of picks to trade.
North won't match a thing if the club offering the contract has nothing better to offer in trade, as almost all cases have been so far.
With the increase in cap. Most teams have the cap to pay him big money. The cap goes up a lot in 2025 and 2026.Guess what, there is something called salary cap, to get him out of north just in financial terms would require 6 x 1.5 mil at the very minimum. Two, he aint going interstate so that's 8 teams gone from the total. Next he ain't going to teams that won't be taking the next step and that means none of the teams between 5 and 17, that probably would also extend into a few into the top 4.
As you said, north won match...we don't have to as there are many non financial boxes that the successful team need to tick. You are thinking about $ and draft, i am talking about team structure, onfield synergy, player cohesiveness.
Players like LDU are not going to beat around the bushes at a new club only to stagnate, he is going to a team that is built around him to achieve success. This pretty much elimniates the possible teams down to single digits in the lower end, those that can fiit his criteria won't have the cap.
Like the swans did with Ryan O’Keefe and Papley?Bit. Sad to grasp on to a player if they are unhappy to be there.
Like the swans did with Ryan O’Keefe and Papley?
But the Swans were sad to grasp onto players that wanted out? Or does that logic only apply to other teams?Ask those two and both are happy they stayed.
It is expected more swans players will go down the Dawson route. It is expected more nmfc players will go downthe McKay route.
Possibly. Given his business interests in Sydney, Parker would need a massive deal $2.0m pa to move. Expect the afl would need to support and maybe subsidise the move.It is expected more swans players will go down the Dawson route.
Lol what? Parker to get an offer of 2 million a year!!Possibly. Given his business interests in Sydney, Parker would need a massive deal $2.0m pa to move. Expect the afl would need to support and maybe subsidise the move.
Otherwise nmfc looks like it will struggle to attract talent and retain what it has.
Not saying it will happen but $2.0m would compensate if not LP would not think about it.Lol what? Parker to get an offer of 2 million a year!!
With the increase in cap. Most teams have the cap to pay him big money. The cap goes up a lot in 2025 and 2026.
Only if they have it in their contract to increase their pay with the cap. There are many players who do not.
Also consider that the amount of players contracted beyond two years is quite small.
