very different or just you not taking into consideration what would actually happen?!

Why would any player leave us for St.Kilda? It's delusional on your part to consider you are closer to anything than even us. You're just not.

Once you factor in NGA's/Father Son's/Northern Academy picks, that will determine a Pick around 10 will be around 20. A natural Pick around 15, will likely be closer to 30 than 20.

We'd take Pick 3, obviously, but we should be folding in that scenario.

I didn't consider 3x first rounders as being 3x late first rounders. I assumed North would want a similar deal to the Bolton trade.

NGA/FS options are irrelevant as they aren't really in the draft pool.

Pick 10 still gets you the 10th player in the free draft, even if it's 'pushed back' to 15 or 20 because of bids.

As for leaving North for the Saints: I would assume it'd only be for money.

Nobody can really predict who is going to rise and fall each year but our finish to 2024 was pretty promising.

North are backing themselves to climb the ladder again in 2025 (hence the Tigers trade) while most see them as a bottom 4 team again.

Who knows?

All I know is I wouldn't pay LDU an insane figure but sometimes that's what it takes to get a FA option.

If it was going to take $1.6m a year, on a 6+ year deal, AND 3x late first rounders then I just don't see the value.

Would be better off trying to spend the cash/picks elsewhere.

Agree... sorta. Pick maybe doesn't change who you can acquire within the draft process, but they carry different value when trading them as assets to other clubs. You need a few players who can kick with ya $1.6m p.a. You'd be better off spending the capital on fast blokes who can kick.

With respect to the ongoing performances of the two sides:
2025 is 1 year. How about 2027-2035?

I guarantee you'll be be better than us for 2025 & 2026. Lock it in, whether that means anything other than a worst draft pick will be interesting to
see, I doubt it equates to more that that.

We have early first rounders in every midfield position, inc the bench. It's not like we need more, i'm not sure we're backijg ourselves to be anything. We could afford to pay overs for who we wanted and did to get them into the club and develop a year earlier.

If Thomas and JHF had still been with us and not been who they are, we'd have been much more competitive and worthy of the shit, rightfully coming our way.

I don't want to get into the prospects of both clubs too deeply but there's no guarantees of anything.

For the period you're speaking of Nick Larkey will be into his 30s with no clear #2 option. The same issue down back where Comben looks a potential star at CHB but with not much else to point to.

But that's the beauty of sport.

Sheezel might win the AFLCA award 5x and turn into Bont 2.0, carrying the team to being consistent finalists.

It's the same thing the Saints are trying to achieve ATM: Build the youth to get ready for finals then try and slingshot to the top 4-6 where pitching to FA/trade options becomes much easier!

Our membership has grown significantly YOY throughout this period, what fans aren't going to want to hang around after swimming through a river of turd to get this far? Not to mention our actual home is probably the fastest growing (in terms of population) in the actual city (Zone 1 anyway).
A lot of those are the free memberships they’ve given away. Also lol about the Arden St precinct. Ah yes. Everybody who moves there immediately drops the team they previously supported and becomes a North supporter.

Maybe go back and read your posting. What you call an insult - most would call facts.
Nah its always good to take your own advice and read your posting

Taking personal pot shots like the stupid chicken comment just makes you look silly and you lose all credibility
now stop quoting me as i worried you will continue to call people names rather than argue a point which you struggle with bill.

Enjoy your sunday

An RFA for 3 first rounders and additional second rounders?
Unheard of.

And if he leaves he frees up $1.6m a year in north cap space? Is that the North offer to him? If so, if he hasn’t bitten Brady’s arm off to sign that contract, he’s obviously gone.
The St.Kilda offer is apparently $1.4m, it would take at least that to keep him, I kept it reasonable at $1.6m.

I don't mind either way, he's a good kid and if his kicking were elite that's probable doable.

I just wouldn't want to lose others to keep him if it were to take that much.

Yes he's very good, but that money is for uber elite which he isn't at 26. Time is running-out whether we want to pay so much for someone who may not help us when we are able to compete.

LOL I'll say you're a bigger club than us, it's true, but you're still a debt-laden loserish schamozzle of a Club. Next year I'll buy a membership of the Saints and celebrate ya 60th, I'll buy 2 (Halo Club if ya still have them) - if you make finals.

We give away nothing, we don't even have enough towels for our players when it's wet ffs.

Most of our fans buy 2+ memberships to get us to 50,000+, sure, that isn't bs, it's true, we only have about 25,000 supporters of which 8,000+ live in Perth - go figure.

Weird.
Normally players leave for more $$$.
For North to have to offer 10% more than other clubs just to stay is mighty strange.
I don't know if that's true, I'm more basing it on what I think he'll be required to be paid to thumb his nose at those offers.

You're right though, it is weird. Why would you go to St.Kilda? Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond, sure... Carlton maybe. Hawks, 100%... but the Saints? I don't know. It would be great for them to be in a position to win one for their fans, I'd certainly welcome it whilst North are no chance, but I feel they have some more work to do to be able to compete.

What would you expect for Pou if he was on the open market?

What would you expect for Pou if he was on the open market?

Would depend on who was trading for him.

If he was leaving this year we'd probably get an early 2nd rounder.

Trades for younger players are harder gauge. A fair bit would depend on how he performs as a full time mid next year.

Jye Caldwell went for a swap for 2x 2nd and 2x 3rd.
Jack Higgins went for a 4th.

Adam Cerra went for pick 6 & a F3rd after 4 years of consistent performances so Pou probably isn't getting us that sort of reward.

MIght be better off with a player swap?

Is Dan Curtain locked in at the Crows? Is there still smoke coming from the Rachelle camp?

If we are just talking draft capital, and he was going to Port or the Crows, then a late 1st probably gets it done.

7 year $10 million dollars is a lot of money for LDU

Very lucky boy at the right club at the right time
Not really looking at the highest paid players in 2024:

Ben McKay 1.5 mill
Tom Lynch 1.5 mill
Dusty 1.3 mill
Trac 1.3 mill
Bolton 1.1 mill
Oliver 1.1 mill

He was better in 2024 than all of the above.

Apart from McKay ( who is stupidly over paid and would be lucky to worth half that and is only on that amount due to front loading in year 1)

The rest all had better years than LDU the year they signed their contracts

lol - do you just make up random things in the hope they are right??

Tom Lynch signed a contract with the Tigers after a 10 game 20 goal season.

FMD you are really special and conveniently dont mention coming off a knee injury AS CAPTAIN

And to show how stupid your comparison is in 2019 Tom Lynch kicked 63 goals in a premiership team where he was integral to Richmond winning the flag

Try again Bill
