I don't think he has much hurt factor to be honest. He's a really good player but not one who can really break a game open on his own imo. He's still behind JPK and Hannebery in terms of importance to Sydney.

There are some Sydney supporters who still think Parker is a better player than Mitchell despite Mitchell being one year younger and beating him in nearly every single statistical category the last two seasons except for contested marks.

Could be the most overrated player in the league.

AFL players had him in the Top 10 players in the league at the start of year.

He's nowhere near it.

Even back at Sydney I worried about Mitchell's 'stat patter' touches more than Parker's.

Bump

So what has happened to Luke Parker?

His 2016 looked like he was on the cusp of superstardom with an AA and runner up in the Brownlow, but his next few years have been well down.

Still only 26 and should be in his footballing prime.

No longer has the cattle around him... Makes a big difference having Hannebery, Jack, T Mitchell, McVeigh and Kennedy all in the midfield supporting you, all in their prime. No longer has that luxury, Hannebery and Mitchell are gone, McVeigh and Jack are on the wrong side of 30 and have regressed. He is the man now.. some blokes handle it better than others. He will learn.

The problem with Parker is that he can be elite, we have seen him be elite, where he takes control of a game and influences the result. The problem is we only see that once in a blue moon. I remember Parker has had 1 elite quarter this year, almost dragging us over the line against the Bulldogs (or Adelaide, can't remember) but that was the only quarter he has been elite in this year, that is 1 out of 16. Most of the time he runs around getting below average disposal numbers for a midfielder and not having much of an influence. Every so often he is an A+ player, but most of the time he is a C+/B player.
