the AFL is in real trouble as a sport here. A player going for a marking contest and bracing for contact coming the other way is sent to Tribunal for suspension… bye bye to marking contests. the disciplinary system is totally rudderless… what a farking joke

For those suggesting that what Lynch did was fair, IMO it's no different to Cameron doing this in 2018, except that Lynch didn't have the long run up, however he did opt to make contact with the opponent rather than contest the mark. Had Lynch put his hands up and at least contest the mark there wouldn't be an issue, but when you elect to make contact with the opponent and not contest the footy, you're always going to be in trouble.

In a few days we are going to be lining up that video of Lynch's "bump" (which it wasn't) and compare it to Kosi Picketts from Round 1 as it appears the AFL think Lynch's action is way more damaging than that of Pickett (being as he wasn't even sent to the tribunal).

How weak of Christian to record that this is a worse incident than what Pickett did. They set the precedent in Round 1, then clearly go away from it. Clearly it appears 4 rounds in that Melbourne were looked after massively with that "penalty" to Pickett. Joke.

So he's not allowed to brace for contact to protect his ribs, from a player coming back into a contest?? He saw him coming at the last minute and he had 2 choices, brace for contact and protect yourself, or leave yourself wide open for a bunch of broken ribs.

That this is even being considered as a "severe" incident is a massive joke in itself.

BTW I don't see how it is comparable with that of Cameron. If Cameron had continued with contesting the mark, Andrews would have just ran past him and there would have been incidental contact, Keath was moving INTO not across the marking contact. Cameron had nothing to protect, Lynch did.

His eyes are clearly on the ball until the last moment when he turns to brace for impact.
