According to the guidelines he will get suspended if he had a realistic alternative and didn’t take it.

What I don’t understand is when JOM had a realistic alternative …. to continue going for the mark …. I’m not sure why the fact he didn’t take the option to go for the ball is irrelevant in his case, but not in Lynch’s. You say it’s because JOM was already in the air, but why could he not have continued going for the ball?

The realistic alternative is an interesting one in this case. At full pace it appears he almost certainly doesn’t

Because O'Meara is entitled to fly for the mark, if anyone was in the wrong in that incident it was Witherden as his attempt is a lot less realistic than O'Meara

we joked about it early in the thread but oppos started to push for it on social media lol

afl will have been watching

Who decides “fit to play”? Lynch puts his hand up in 4 weeks says ready to play, club then decides to “manage” him for a further 4 weeks.

This is a can of worms.

OK question

Does Lynch hit Keith
or Keith Hit Lynch ?

can you or should you be suspended for a player running into you and knocking himself out ?

It’s a very valid point. In fact, given Lynch never looked at Keath and only picked him up at the last second in his peripheral vision, then I offer you this scenario.

Would the outcome of that collision been any different at all if Keath was Vlastuin ? I’d say almost certainly not given it’s unlikely he knew it was an opposition player and not a teammate. So would Lynch get 3 x weeks if he knocked out Vlastuin?

See how ridiculous it would be should he be suspended.

Lol. Cats fans dirty that McKay got off. After the 2020 grand final and Gary Elbows, you're allowed to elbow and forearm players in the head if you're "contesting" for the ball.

Yes, he flew for the mark. Then made a decision to tuck up and take Witherden out instead of continuing to go for the ball. So are you saying JOM didn’t have a realistic alternative than choosing to take out Witherden? Once again, why was JOM not expected to continue going for the ball?

Mind you, I don’t think JOM should have been suspended as I think players are entitled to protect themselves in a brace position from oncoming traffic. If JOM gets off, so ‘should’ Lynch.

What was his alternative to vanish into thin air?

So Geelong and Carlton can pretty much get away with anything it seems. There's cleary an agenda here. Very unfair for the other 16 teams.
