Was a success in the IPL as an opener. Has scored a century as opener for Australia in an ODI when he was given the chance. Though it may be too late, it seems he has been not totally utilised in the one day format. Let someone else fininsh the innings

If they're going to drop Warner I'd like to see the Husseys moved higher up the order. David especially never really has time to make the runs he's capable of currently.

If they're going to get rid of Punter on form then get rid and shuffle others on form as well. If we had a chance (say we bowl India out for 150 or less or something random) it'd be interesting to see how the Hussey brothers would do as openers.

But yeah, apart from my rambling man love, not against the idea, just Wade is the better option than anyone else around the team currently, is best as an opener and if Warner is dropped I doubt they'd put anyone bar Watto as the opener.

I'd just like to see us have a bowl first and see how it changes the demeanour of the batsmen. We know their current form but we haven't seen many (if any) totals being chased.

IMHO, I wouldn't mind seeing Clarke open. He seems to play his best when he can build an innings and his record as an opener is pretty good.

I think Warner should get pushed down the order. I just don't think he has quite worked out how to pace an innings in one day cricket yet. Play him in a position where he can just blaze from the start, just like he does in T20.

It's a tough one.

I do like Forrest and Clarke coming in at 1st and 2nd drop as they can steady the ship and build an innings. Then, the Hussey's are great coming in late because they don't really need time to get set, and can get their timing perfect from ball one.

I wouldn't mind seeing Clarke open with Watson - at least Clarke will be steady, and Wade pushed down to 6 or 7 because I think that suits him in the one day game. As for Warner, I don't think he'll ever play anywhere but opener.

Wade has these games but he also has shown the ability to get the biggie at opener. Obviously jury still out if he can do it at this level but he's probably worth persisting with. Warner needs to bat more like he does in T20 cricket, he is there to get us off to a quick start not build a big innings. If he gets another chance that is what he needs to do as the Warner right now ain't going to do anything in the ODI format.

As for Hussey no point in moving a guy that won't be at the next WC. We need to sort out a long term opener and then someone to take his finishing role.

M. Hussey can play well at any number. That versatility is great for a team. If we are in trouble and lose say, Warner and Forrest in the first over you'd be able to bring him in and be confident in him steadying the ship than hitting out when needed. On the flipside you can have confidence bringing him in, in the last 5 overs to have a tonk.

Mussey is a versatile, consistent run scorer in the ODI format. However he was overlooked and kept on the periphery for too long. We need to develop openers & find an opening combination to take us to the WC. Sadly that wont be Mr Cricket.

Hussey is in a groove atm so moving him is not on. David Hussey is also in the form of his life so no movements for them. Currently warner and wade opening should be persisted. watson i just don't think he is required with clarke and forrest doing very well atm. Also the fast bowling allrounder spot is taken by christian and christian has shown to be a hard hitting lower order player. We shouldn't change to much of the lineup.

Are you saying Watson isn't a required first XI player????????
