When we are self confessed busting at the salary cap seams, it all counts. When I said minimum wage, I’m suspecting well below the AFL average and certainly not enough to have any impact on our salary cap.

Did the club not blood enough new players this year (most of whom played 5 games or more) to think that maybe the issues with selection are a thing of the past? Nicks and his coaching panel are a completely new setup and from what a few posters have said on here, players young and old love the direction Nicks is taking them.I agree with you, but my main concern is we will keep picking him ahead of younger players. We saw it this year with Sholl, as well as Hartigan and Kelly over Butts and Worrell and Knight over Schoenberg (granted that was only one game).
I don't trust our selectors to stick with the rebuild.
Who said that? When we are self confessed busting at the salary cap seams, it all counts.
RooWho said that?
Based on our ladder position and the quality of our list we shouldn't be paying out any more than 40% of the cap. Riccuito is predominantly to blame for all of it closely followed by Reid and Fagan. This is what occurs when you hand a completely unequipped dumb ex player the keys to a multi million dollar organisation to do whatever he wants with impunity from any responsibility for those decisions.Roo mention previously that we are pretty much maxed out.
Bottom of the table, losing players left right and centre and a maxed out salary cap. Impressive.
So? If you want to go abuse him on FB it’s free for you to do so.
Classy responseNot surprised Baccs is gobbing the club again

Just like the start of 2020 yeah? Oh, wait...
No just Mackay.Jesus Christ.
Mackay is well-liked in the playing group, apparently has elite standards, and had more of a solid year this year than most of our other supposedly 'elite' players.
What kind of message does that send other players? If we want to follow Richmond's example then we need to start building up 'role players'. This builds a message within the club that says 'you might not be the next Dangerfield, but if you play a role, and you bring effort every game then you will be rewarded'
It also sends the message that even if you're a former Pick 15, if you're not willing to put in the effort then it's to your own detriment, and you might be out the door.
Love this decision by the club.
unbelievable. Let’s mix it up a bit. I made this one first time we re-signed him. Can’t believe I can still use:
Doesn't have the hardness of Garry McIntosh. I can see why.Balme not a Mackay fan I'm told
The Footy Gods intervened
I'd go one step further and say DMac is a BAD example. His re-signing is a reward for mediocrity. It doesn't show our kids anything other than be good off field, train hard, listen to your coaches and you'll be fine mate. It's the Campo creed.I've never been a Mackay basher, I've even defended his selection on occasions (due to other players non availability generally) but this decision by the club makes no sense for a team that acknowledges it's in a re-building phase. Plenty of other "experienced" and good preparers outside of Mackay to set the example for the youngsters coming through so I'm not buying this argument being put forward by some.
Godden being SANFL coach would have sealed his fate.This.
I really hope the bloke doesn't have social media.
We can’t honestly be critical of the club this year for not playing youth. There were some games when we looked like a reserves side, and it is a balancing act with players like McAsey and Butts to avoid them losing all confidence when they are being exposed on the big stage.I agree with you, but my main concern is we will keep picking him ahead of younger players. We saw it this year with Sholl, as well as Hartigan and Kelly over Butts and Worrell and Knight over Schoenberg (granted that was only one game).

Kane Cornes will always hold that title. He'll be the worst player to ever play 300 games.
