He seemed to be in it more yesterday. I was worried he couldnt read the play but yesterday he seemed to be near it quite a bit. He also used the ball with great class I thought and he is ferocious towards the contest and the opposition despite still being on the slight side. Sheedy has commented that Winder needs to improve his endurance so I suspect this is why he is brought on in bursts. Anyone else excited by what they saw?

Wouldn't say Im excited but I too have been critical of Winderlich and think he struggles to find the footy on a regualar basis. Im still not sold on yesterdays performance but he wasnt terrible.

I think he has shown glipses of different aspects of his game, but never put it together in one match.
His ferociousness is one thing I have always liked about him. He has no fear and loves it tough. But he also has the pace to break the lines.

I thought Sheedy used his bench really well yesterday. Winderlich, Alvey, LM and Stanton where all given time on the ground and as a result all four played their best games for the club. It also left us with plenty of run in the final quarter. These blokes don't have to have 25+ possession games, but if we can get 40-50 possessions between them each week as part of our rotations then we are slowly starting to put together a half decent midfield.

I wouldn't say excited, It was an improvement, he certainly attacked the ball with ferocity which I was impressed with but didn't do anything really classy from memory.

I was impressed with Winderlich's game.

Definately has pace to burn and the potential to break lines, uses it pretty well too. I have had doubts over him in the past but I genuinely think he will make it as a player now....

Stanton was the one who really looked the goods, his long kicking was a dramatic improvement on some of his kicking efforts in the past....and definately knows where to find the ball.

Wisbey says his style (Winderlich) is like Paul Kelly and I can see what he means. I know it was only one game but the fact he looked near it a lot and we know he'll give 100% on the field gives me a lot greater confidence that he can make it big time.

Stanton was executing 50 metre passes to perfection yeserday (last week aswell), finally some pace and run to look forward to in the ensuing years. He attempts to use both feets which I like aswell. Also I think it was Stants that neutralised and forced a ball up when contesting against three Dockers a great effort.

Certainly the best game I've seen him play. Agree that he needs to get the ball more often, but this has been hard as he's been used so briefly and infrequently in the past. Also seem to remember him getting knocked out a few times - product of his fearlessness. Impressed by the way he uses the ball, seems to have pretty decent footy smarts.
We definitely look a much better side with a few more true on-ballers in the rotation - likes of Stanton, Alvey, Winderlich. Lovett-Murray also getting better - I wasn't a huge rap for him last year but he is having more of an impact now.
I find the rotation thing a bit amusing. In 2000 Sheedy was praised for developing the continual rotation through the midfield with the likes of Caracella, Heffernan, Blumfield, Moorcroft, Long, Mercuri etc. And yet now everyone is attributing this to the 'younger coaches'. We just haven't had the quality of players to rotate recently, meaning Sheeds has had to persist with our "A-list" midfielders for longer.

He is getting better.

But at this point, he still doesn't get the ball enough for me to be won over.
He picked up 11 possessions in 61 minutes on Sunday.
So did Alvey.
But on Winderlich - I like him alot.
He uses the ball very well.

Since i saw him do some pretty special things vs hawthorn in '03 i've rated him, and thought he did all that could have been expected of him on Sunday.

NLM, Alvey and Winderlich all gave us great run off the bench, even when they weren't getting the footy they still gave an option and opened it up for others. Pity that 1 of them will likely be dropped vs Port because none deserve to be.

Yes I was pleased with NLM, got the ball a bit and he didnt kick as many tumble punts as the week before. He has the look in his eyes of someone desperate to make it. Given his athletic talents, if he keeps his confidence he will be a very useful player for us. Even got in a bit of a tangle with Barry Hall the week before.

According the news reports Solly is back this week.
So I expect he would be the only change and most likely for Cartledge.
Whilst three ruckman worked well, I think the three midfielders on the bench had a bigger impact.

With a little faith shown in Jason, he'll develop the confidence he requires to transfer what he does for Bendigo to the AFL stage
