Libba placed in concussion protocols and is out next week with what Bevo has described as a ‘rolled ankle’
from the AFL website - sounds very dodgy, probably took pingers at half time

WESTERN Bulldogs veteran Tom Liberatore has been ruled out of next week's game against St Kilda, despite being cleared of a concussion after Friday night's loss to Essendon.

Liberatore collapsed suddenly late in the game at Marvel Stadium against the Bombers before making it to his feet and continuing to play. The club confirmed on Saturday that he had passed a head injury assessment on Friday night and had no concussion symptoms when assessed again on Saturday morning.

However, the club has decided to put Liberatore in concussion protocols – ruling him out of the game against the Saints on Thursday night – out of an abundance of caution.

"Given the concerning nature of in-game footage during the final minutes that show Tom falling to the ground, the club's medical team has subsequently reached a decision to place him in concussion protocols," the club said in a statement.

"This decision has been taken with an abundance of caution, with Tom's health and wellbeing the absolute priority.

"As a result, Tom will miss Thursday's match against St Kilda and will continue to be monitored."

It’s a very strange one, if he’s passed a head injury assessment then he’s fine, the alternative is the HIA holds absolutely no weight and is a complete sham.

Not sure which option is worse from an AFL perspective

Traded 3 first round picks to get him and it’s taken 5 weeks for Bevo to crap him out.

The apple isle awaits
It’s bonkers what they paid to trade up for him (considering Adelaide traded up to pick 8 on draft night for pick 11 and a second rounder and that they were dealing with GCS who have zero clues at the draft table). The dogs sure know how to get reamed during trade week (us, brissy, GCS)

“The SUNS send selections four, 46 and 51 in the 2023 AFL Draft, as well as the SUNS’ 2024 third-round pick to the Bulldogs in exchange for picks 10, 17 and the Bulldogs’ 2024 first-round selection”

Prime ‘Bevo is a donkey’ areas.

Trade the absolute farm to get him, marginalise established guns in Macrae and Daniel to wedge him straight into the middle and then sub him out when he’s going well multiple times.

why was Brad Scott so red faced and sweating in the coach’s box?
they told him he should have sat this week out with a calf injury ?

okay, if you are going to start shitposting, i’m going to have to start to offer in depth football analysis… is that what you really want?

Less bonkers when you remember they had a father son pick in the mid first range who they basically got for free after the trade.

An oppo team could have nuked those 2 picks with an early (but reasonable) bid

Anyone else notice Zerret sitting defensive side of the centre bounce all night? He very much seemed to be playing defensive mid/sweeper role to make sure the ball didn’t get out the front like it did with port. Then allowed duz/parish/caldwell/hobbs to get into the guts

The beauty of a deep midfield is Merrett could much more damaging on the outside. Teams have tagged him out of games too easy in the guts. Much harder on the outside.

Interesting looking at the stats and how people are seeing the players. Seems that the more noticeable blunder do stick in peoples minds. Take Hobbs and Caldwell. Now I agree Hobbs has an issue with not taking the first option or at times the right option but if you line the two games up stats wise .
Kicks - Hobbs 11 Caldwell 18
Handball - Hobbs 5 Caldwell 6
Disposal Efficiency - Hobbs 70.6 Caldwell 65.2
Kicking Efficiency - Hobbs 63.6 Caldwell 55.6
I50 - Hobbs 4 Caldwell 5
Clangers - Hobbs 3 Caldwell 8
Turnovers - Hobbs 5 Caldwell 6
Effective disposal - Hobbs 12/16 Caldwell 15/24
Tackles Hobbs 3 - Caldwell 5
Pressure acts - Hobbs 16 Caldwell 20
Score Involvements - Hobbs 5 Caldwell 4
Goal assists - Hobbs 2 Caldwell 0
Now I am not saying Hobbs was as good as Caldwell overall as he was not. Also not saying Hobbs does not have 3 or 4 WTF moments most weeks but using the stats as a measure Hobbs is not going as badly as it would look. I think it is a case of the WTF moments are more memorable in peoples minds. Also take into account that Hobbs is actually being asked to play mainly high half forward and not his natural inside midfielder spot and that does not help either. He is a bloke that is used to crashing in for the footy at ground level and not so much creating stuff as an extra at the contest.
And yes I know stats are not everything and efficiency stats have their flaws but every player is measured by the same set of stats.
I think there is a bit of the few bad things being really noticeable.
