News Maddy Prespakis and Georgia Gee request trade to Essendon & other possible player movements

Exactly right all the foundation clubs should not be a hatchery for the expansion clubs that they can just pick and choose and have a side full of great players and play finals asap they should have to grow organically like everyone else.

This is exactly what Craig Starcevich was saying the other week, and what Munro said in the release. We’ve put so much time and money into developing them, and for them to be lured away by other clubs at the drop of a hat is just a huge kick in the teeth.

Probably the biggest indictment is that my head says it's frustrating but my heart doesn't care. We see players chop and change so much I don't have any connection at all with the team. It may come again some day.

Just had a quick look over the squad from 2019, and compared it to the current outlook for next season. Only 10 players still there, assuming some of those don't move on as well.

60% or more turnover in three years? How on earth is the team supposed to improve? How are the coaches supposed to achieve anything? It's basically just rolling the dice on a few recruits and hoping you hit the jackpot in any given season.

I agree totally.. but when even the club comes out and says 'yeah 4 expansion teams coming in.. we don't like it, but we're going to lose a couple and it's for the best'... it's hard to get invested. I mean bloody hell, if players aren't invested enough to stay, what hope do the fans have.

Once expansion is done, I think things will settle. It will be years before this competition will be considered 'elite', and I'm not just talking on field, but off field.

And that's ok, Rome wasn't built in a day.

Realistic post again KP. I will be even more engrossed now though. Love Carlton and we have to grind through . And we will .

The AFLW is expanding way too quickly. Watch the quality stagnate for the next 5 years and in return, the attendance and revenue.

What a shock to see this news. I’m gutted.
Maddy was a big reason for me to watch games to see them tear it up and dominate.
Even when I didn’t watch I’d search her in the stats before anyone else to see how things were going.

Doubt I’ll watch this season. Never thought I’d say that, but I can’t see us being remotely competitive and I can’t be bothered watching clubs who have done zero hard work leapfrog us.

Yep. Relocation assistance, employment, cars, and so on. It's an absolute rort but it's how the AFL has set it up. They want the expansion clubs to be successful ASAP, even to the detriment of existing clubs.
