A new mate of mine, new to the country, had no idea which club to go for. After giving him a brief history lesson about our great club, I convinced him North are the way to go. He now knows about our premierships, Carey, and our success in the 70's and 90's.

Hopefully in a year or so i can get him loving it enough to become a member.

Anyone else have any success stories along these lines?

good effort mate, dont have a success story like that but i do have a funny one. In 1994 my 6 year old brother at the time changed teams from North to Richmond after the roos copped a flogging. 13 years later he doesnt watch afl coz his clubs so shite and i've seen 2 priemerships

Haha, good one. Poor bugga wont be watching to footy for a long while yet....

Me. Was a blues supporter when i was 4-5 and then after changed as NM started to become really dominent. The only reason i was turned into a blues supporter was because i lived around 30 of them and i lived in carlton for a while.

Bet you were happy in '99 :D

I bagged the living shits out of them all. Was very happy. Even made a poster of all the images i got from the papers the next day. That year i went over seas and i never found it again.

Yeh along the lines of that. It was the influence of the carey, stevo, mckernan, Horse, archer that got me on board during 95.

Haha, I converted my wife.....so to speak. When we first started going out she sort of barracked for the Hawks, it only took a game or two to convert her to a bonafide Roo. She's been a member for the last 16 years

Same as me. Mine was a Carlton supporter, but after I refused to go to any Carlton match that we weren't playing in, and buying her a Kanga's membership year after year, she is now on board.

I have also convinced my nephew (wife's sisters kid) who is now 110% fanatical. He has even conned a couple of his 7 year old mates into barracking for us. He is a member and has slept in his Kanga's jumper (of which I bought him his first jumper) the night before every game, for the last 3 seasons (& the night of the game when we win)!!!

Now THAT, is a story. Great work mate. :thumbsu:

Got a Roos supporter from a bombers :)

Cop that, way bigger than a Carlton supporter, but good work guys.

Converted my wife as well. She was a Fitzroy/Brisbane supporter. Took her to a North match 2 years ago she preferred our passionate supporters over Brisbanes. Liked our colours better as well. Got her first membership this year.

I turned my family away from that pansy round ball code to being ardent supporters of the pigskin game  :thumbsu:

Well it works for the Jehova's witnesses. Who wants to come doorknocking with me?

"Good morning sir. My friend and I are here to talk to you about the light, the way and a young gentleman by the name of the Monster"

I'll supply the uniforms. Where do I sign up?

You do realise that those name-tags the Jehovah Witnesses wear don't traditionally have the words "Welcome to Hungry Jacks, I'm...bellzy" written on them.

i swam across the bass straight to watch a game once, but the roos were playing in carara, silly me for thinking they would be playing at the TD, its not really a success story, but the passion is there?
